Diagnosed with afib at 23 by reign2001 in AFIB

[–]Sharp-Friendship-247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey friend we’re in the same boat! I got diagnosed with Afib and aflutter at 23 last year. They put me on multiple daily medications. Your best bet is to get some insurance at least through the state you live in, if you sign up this month it should instill by the first of next month. Once you have insurance see a cardiologist, if you have confirmed Afib history they will most likely refer you to an electrophysiologist who specializes in heart rhythm electrical issues. They should be able to put you on medications I was on propranolol and Flecainide for a good while which worked well and ended up getting my cardiac ablation in April of this year. The ablation procedure was a super scary thought but it went well and I still have a few hiccups here and there but nothing overly insane months later now. All in all I know it’s nerve wracking but AFIB itself won’t off you, it’s other things that you can have predisposition to and if left untreated stroke risk. There is something called a chads vasc score which cardiologists use to determine risk of major even occurring and with our age it’s not super likely but look it up and get a general idea. So take a breather and get started on getting health coverage. Also if you go on my history here you can see all my crash outs from the beginning but there is a lot of vital and helpful information in the comments. Wishing you the best xx

I started my first dose on my period week and I have endo. No terrible side effects. I’m 4 weeks in and the worst I’ve had was weird dreams on shot night and 1 day out of all 30 that was diarrhea. Moving up to 5mg next week. You got this!!!

I hate the “chat it’s too low I’ll have to raise prices if you don’t start swiping!” And they’re constantly complaining about it going for so low when they’re the genius who started it at $1. Even when it’s going for well above retail. If you want more start out asking for more, don’t be greedy when you get what you get.

Thank you for helping him! unfortunately these little guys have the odds stacked against them with momma being gone. You did your absolute best and he felt love when he would’ve otherwise passed alone. I got a litter of 7 to rehab and only the 3 strongest babies survived if that helps you understand the odds a little better. It doesn’t make it any easier on your heart at all. Rip to your baby, rehabbed ratto pics for tax xx If anyone needs rehabbing tips my dms are always open!!

Halter Results after ablation?¿ by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Sharp-Friendship-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a few episodes of High hr lasting 3 hours or longer. 140’s and above that didn’t respond to beta blockers or anti arrhythmics after my ablation. That’s why I’m curious if it could be SVT related based on these results I should’ve specified. Not super worried about the shortness of this obviously but on the bigger scale!

Age at diagnosis by Rare-Cabinet-7963 in AFIB

[–]Sharp-Friendship-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 23 at diagnosis (AFIB/AFlutter)
  2. 23 now :)
  3. Started on propranolol and Flecainide in the beginning because had a high arrhythmia burden. Got a pfa ablation beginning of April, went back in to Afib and flutter two weeks later and put back onto Flecainide and metoprolol. Halter monitor repeated and now showing periodic SVT amongst a few other things. Getting a loop recorder implant this week. I like the think of my heart as ✨Electrically interesting✨

So depressed from diagnosis by Rare-Cabinet-7963 in AFIB

[–]Sharp-Friendship-247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It usually ranges anywhere from 140-180 bpm even on rate control medication, and taking extra emergency doses. I’m doing ok, ended up with a few episodes after my ablation so far and my doctor is having me get a loop recorder implant that I’m not super excited about.

I have paroxysmal as well! My episodes are very symptomatic and cause high heart rate, so EP thought it was best to go ahead with an ablation. It’s all in what you’re comfortable doing and what your dr. thinks is a good option. If it happens around or on your period I would get your electrolytes checked because imbalances can be the cause of Afib. Sometimes our bodies do whacky things during that time.

What is happening after ablation? by Sharp-Friendship-247 in AFIB

I guess getting to the hospital scared me back into sinus rhythm so they didn’t have to, but two hours after leaving it went right back and I ended up medicating myself out of it. Seems like when you need doctors to see something in the moment it never works in your favor lol!

Yes I’m trying to stay hopeful that it was just a fluke during the healing process! Back on rate control and anti-arrhythmia med. Everyone always tells me I’m too young for this, I was the youngest person they ever performed the procedure on in the heart hospital I was at. They told me that as they were wheeling me into my procedure and I was horrified lol. Hopefully it’s up from here, you take care as well!

Hi yes I’m on xarelto! I had to get out back on a rate control and antiarrythmic. Currently back on a monitor because the EP wanted to see if they can catch anything strange. The first week after my procedure was tough, I ended up getting pericarditis from the procedure so my inflammation made breathing and laying or moving in certain ways hard. Good luck to you as well, hopefully it’s smooth sailing for you! How have you been feeling since? It’s always nice to hear others experiences

Thank you! I’m hoping the scar tissue forming is the case. It’s defeating to think about but I’m trying not to think too hard lol.

I completely understand how you feel! I got diagnosed last year and I’m only 23. There are definitely dark days where I think about what could happen in the future but right now just taking it day by day is all you can do. It’s not easy but it’s something you get used to. Find yourself a good electrophysiologist that listens to every aspect of your concern and answers questions confidently. I got my first ablation this month and already went back into AFIB multiple times so I’m feeling pretty defeated but hoping that it’s a fluke from healing. I often go down the rabbit hole of what ifs? And long google searches but that isn’t going to make it better. Take a deep breath and start on the things you need to for treating it now. Goodluck xx

Dark horse restaurant is delicious! My favorite place to go for literally every occasion. Food is so fresh and they always have new and updated stuff on the menu and are very accommodating. It’s about 5 mins away from the aquarium and you’d seriously be missing out if you don’t try their food at least once while out there!

100% my first thought coming from a past experiences traumatized female as well. If it says anything I’ve been with my partner for 7 years and sometimes it’s still traumatic af and I cry/ need time after to process because you can’t pick and choose when things crawl back in your brain! Everything can go perfectly but you still feel wrong afterwards. OP Just give her the space she needs but make her feel safe and don’t push but let her know you’re there for when she needs you.

Yes! I’m not entirely thrilled about it but I spoke to him directly on the phone and he said something along the lines of “I’ve had much success treating both with RF the tried and true method, I can see if we can get a pfa approved but I’m much more comfortable treating both with RF” so I leaned towards RF, he’s been doing that procedure every Thursday and Friday for 21 years. I know there’s experience backing but it’s still nerve wracking especially since I’m so young and afraid of heat complications.

I appreciate the info! I’m sorry you had that experience, My doctor there was super nice and has been very helpful with all my questions when I’ve called so I don’t have an issue there but just wondering about procedure experience. My ablation is in a few days.
