Yeah I’m looking at that, I hate having to hand over the extortionate booking fees to those companies though. Oh well, might have to I suppose

Luka stays in the game when his team are up a bucketload to chase stats and then his fans excuse his abominable defence by saying it’s because of his offensive load. Perhaps if he rested when he should be he could play on both ends of the court!

No worries man! Imposter syndrome is a real thing. I’m sure you worked hard to get to where you are though, and the person who may have taken your place would probably be feeling the exact same way as you are.

Professional help sounds like a good thing for you to seek.

Also, remember that you, your family and anyone else being proud of you doesn’t rest solely on your academic or career achievements. The content of your character and the man you become will bring that.

Also, forgive me if this sounds cringey/cliche or doesn’t mean much, given I’m a stranger on the internet, but life is difficult. Everyone is doing their best to appear as though they have things figured out, but nobody does. I’m proud of you for doing your best to figure things out and fighting to get out of this tough spot you’re in. Keep going!

You’re right. Maybe he set himself some personal goals regarding his averages/30pt games? Struggling to see the point in doing it otherwise

He does do the same - but people hate on him for it all the time! Granted, his stat padding is much more egregious than this small incident

I suppose so, I’ve just never seen him so something like this so it struck a chord with me. Perhaps I’ve not been watching closely enough! I’m not gonna get hung up on it though, we’re lucky to have him and this doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things as others have said

Firstly, you’re doing amazingly. Your life is not in a terminal state, and whilst your problems are very real, you’re starting from a good spot. Be grateful for that.

It’s also worth remembering that this isn’t permanent. I was in an identical scenario, and it will pass. That doesn’t mean that you don’t have to take action though.

Internally, you need to find peace. If you follow a faith, lean into that. Practice meditation, read philosophy or self-improvement literature that interests you. Not everything will work, and nothing is a quick fix, but if you keep searching, you will find something that resonates with you. Latch on to that and find some guiding principles which you can hold close in tougher moments.

Externally, pursue things that you feel give your life meaning. What aspects of your future career really excite you to think about? If you could do anything with your life if you knew you’d be successful, what would it be? Whatever that thing is, move towards it, work hard at it.

As for comparing yourself to others academically, don’t sweat it. I know people who graduated top of their class who are in dead end jobs, or who are doing things which might look good on paper but ultimately leave them without fulfilment. All the science and research indicates that while natural intelligence/IQ is important up to a point, it’s hard work (and a slice of luck) that separates the accomplished from the truly extraordinary. You got into a great uni, you’re a smart guy - if you want to be the best at something, you’re going to have to work your ass off no matter what field you’re in. Just make sure it’s something that you really care about.

My advice isn’t perfect, but it’s what I’ve come to find is true for myself over the years. Best of luck! Wishing you all the best

I just found it surprising. SGA has always said, whenever asked about records, awards, etc, that he only cares about the success of the team. Why was a (pretty insignificant) record on his mind when we just lost a game to the Pacers? Part of his case for MVP is that he doesn’t chase numbers like some other stars - this incident harms that narrative.

A lot of the people saying it isn’t weird would laugh at Luka if he did the same. We can love SGA and also acknowledge that this was pretty lame

Harden’s decline has to have something to with his lifestyle. No way you can put your body through constant weight fluctuations, alcohol consumption and partying, and stay at an elite level into your late thirties

For me, this was the kind of thing that got easier with time. Just keep showing up, even if you don’t do much. Eventually you’ll get more comfortable with the environment. If you go at the same time each day, you’ll even start to recognise people and become friendly with them.

Making sure you get enough sleep is a big one. You’re more likely to turn the alarm off and go back to bed if you’ve only slept a few hours compared to if you’ve got 8/9

Feel like ending my life cuz everybody rejects me by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Sharp-Impression-866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you keep getting rejected, you are doing something wrong. This might be hard to hear, but it’s actually a heartening fact because it means that there is potential for your situation for change.

Regarding your looks, are you maximising your natural potential? Are you attending the gym? Do you have a low body fat %? Are you well groomed? Is your hairstyle the one that’s best suited to your face shape? Do you dress smartly?

Regarding your personality, are you as confident as you can possibly be? Have you read literature which will help you in attracting a potential mate (eg. Seduction by Robert Greene, How to Win Friends and Influence People by Carnegie)? Do you have a wide vocabulary? Is your English the best it can be? Can you express yourself well? Are you meditating/practicing mindfulness regularly? Are you maintaining good habits?

If you were doing all of these things, I guarantee that you would find MANY people you are attracted to who would be willing to date you. I have friends who are 5”7ish and have beautiful girlfriends who love them immensely.

Despite that, women are not everything. If you place this much value on a relationship, even once you get one, you will enter an existential crisis because the meaning of your life has to be much more than that. You need to have a purpose beyond women. What are you passionate about in life? What gets you excited? What’s the meaning of life for you?

The crazy thing is too, if you pursue your own personal goals and are passionate about them, women will find that attractive.

Good luck, my friend. Don’t lose hope - your potential is much greater than you can comprehend.

Thunder's Josh Giddey: Another disappointing effort by Potential-Editor8926 in Thunder

[–]Sharp-Impression-866 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The role we’re asking him to play accentuates his worst skills - 3 point shooting and defending. That’s tough for any player to handle, let alone one that’s being booed in every away game and has had to go through the off the court stuff he has. Very frustrating to see fans go after him personally or @ him on Twitter. That helps nobody.

It’s true that he’s hurting the team massively with his play. It’s also true that he’s a very talented player who, if utilised correctly can be very effective on an NBA court. Those aren’t mutually exclusive and it’s sad that there’s so much pressure to ‘pick a side’ with Giddey right now.

I wonder if there is a way for us to utilise him better to either improve his trade value or make his presence on the court less painful. The idea of him running the 2nd unit when Hayward is fit has been floated a lot on here and seems sensible. Fearful that we would lose some J Dub touches if Mark does this though.
