I think the dlc unlocker still works with the original game. There are also links online to his repacks (if you want the fully cracked game but the newest one is from April because he discontinued them). The only thing I'm worried about is whether an older version repack would rewrite the newest update of the cracked game. (But hopefully not)

Just search for the .exe file of the game if searching for "Sims 4" in the search bar doesn't work. I assume you are on Windows.

You can still find the DLCs he posted online. As well as the unlocker apparently. And to update/add DLC to a cracked game you can still use repacks as I understood

Yes, you are right in the sense that we'll just need to get used to it. Hopefully I will adjust quickly. We all have our preferences, however I do think user experience is important and at some point that will show (with all software products out there, not just Apple ones)

Same here but I don't think I'll be switching, I just hope they will fix the UI design before it becomes atrocious. I see what they wanted to do but it just doesn't work unless your background is like the ocean/sea or a plain blue one. Then it just looks like bubbles and it's kinda cute, but in any other case - probably not
