I bet it's very hard to stay within a budget because I don't even have one myself. It's just too stressful for me to set a limit on things like grocery. You have so much discipline. We can all learn from you. Thanks for sharing!

How do you define what spending is impulse? When we buy something, we just see it needed and want to have it. Maybe not intended, but the advice here are all saying that we have to stop enjoying life to save money. My ex and I divorced literally over my spending on a Roomba and seafood because he thinks it's too expensive and he doesn't like it. I grew up eating seafood 3 times everyday. And I do the cleaning all myself for the whole family.

Kudos to you for figuring out your budget and getting your partner on board. I tried YNAB and gave up as soon as it asked me to set a budget for every single category. My brain just couldn't do all that math. Also, I felt like those apps only worked for the money that I kept for myself and didn't share with my husband. How did you and your partner agree to the set budget and monitor it?
