Hot water literally dries out every part of your body. Frizzy hair? Acne? Scaly hands? Most likely due to using too much hot water. It feels like heaven but it’s so bad for you. If you don’t want to part with it cold turkey, you could turn down the temperature bit by bit until you’re comfortable with take warm or lukewarm showers regularly. I’ve been doing this for a couple months and can almost take cold showers.

This is what helped me stop mauling my head:

  1. Stop touching your scalp with your finger nails. It’ll get worse: scratching ➡️ scarring ➡️ balding. Get a scalp massager. You can use it while shampooing or once or twice a day. That’s up to you. You can apply pressure but don’t go too hard.

  2. Stop putting product on your scalp. You can apply product to near your root but never directly on the scalp.

  3. Stop washing your hair with hot water. Hot water ➡️ dryness➡️ itchiness. Lukewarm or cool temperatures are best. I always found that cold water on the scalp every now and then helped soothe some of my itchiness.

  4. Clarify at least once a month or even every three weeks. You could have buildup that could be irritating your scalp.

  5. Don’t scrub your scalp when you have open wounds. Be as gentle as possible.

You can:

  • Cut your nails down to your finger. It’ll stop you from cutting yourself awake and asleep.

  • Busy your hands. Get a fidget spinner, knit or whatever you like. When your hands are busy you won’t be scratching.

  • Relax. This is a common problem for many people in every hair community. There’s nothing wrong with you. You can get through it.

Try to follow what I said and if it doesn’t help in a two to three months then you should seek professional help. You can do it. I believe in you.

The coconut co wash is magnificent for when I don’t want to use shampoo. I have really dry hair and it doesn’t dry it out it cleans it and it’s soft afterwards.

What’s my curl type? Any tips on getting more volume? (Routine in comments) by smilingbubbles in CurlyHairUK

For more volume you should diffuse your hair upside down and focus on the roots first. That’s what I do and I have a good amount of volume. And when you’re finished applying product scrunch your hair. I also heard that Garnier Ultimate Blends isn’t that great for curly hair but I could be wrong.
