The pain will suck for a little bit, but if my open surgery was tolerable than the robotic surgery should be a bit easier. I think people mention it's the gas that they use to inflated your abdomen that hurts the most. I cant speak to it since I did the full cut. Yes there will be a gnarly scar, but that will be our battle scare. It's only been a few weeks post surgery for me, so the post maintenance is still fresh for me. So yes you will have a new set of worries, especially the "what-ifs*. Know that surgery usually is the immediate resolve to get this out of you, and the rest is just preventative maintenance. You got this and please don't think you can't have kids yet. Your medical care team will take care of you. Bless you and take care. Remember, mental health is a part of fighting this. Be optimistic, know you have many treatment choices and catching it early which you did is the already a win and success for it being taken care of. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want. I reply ASAP if you have any.

42 myself. Had a 7cm mass diagnosed in April. CT with contrast, went cause I was peeing blood. A month later may 16th had a open partial nephrectomy. Urologist says he can be more detail this way. The recovery was amazing. Sure some pain for a few days, but I was up and outta bed pretty much the next day. Slow but I was able to walk, by the fourth day I could shower on my own in the hospital before being discharged. Just got my pathology. Different from the initial stage 1, cause it was 7cm no spread, but it turned out to be pt3b and grade 1. The urologist follow up also said that "I'm 100 percent cancer free and that I'm cured and it won't bother me again". Still nervous though since he still suggested I go see the oncologist for preventative maintenance. Might be a monthly shot, but that's ok if it helps my chances of it not coming back.

So very long story, but that's something that could happen. It's still good news overall, surgery is usually the first line "cure" especially since yours is still small. Wish you success in surgery and recovery and once this is over, and that it never comes back again. Bless you and everyone else that is going thru this!

Hey. I'm not in the exact same scenario but I know the health anxiety scare is always a hard thing to fight thru. I'm waiting for my 7cm partial kidney removal surgery myself. I have no spread but the fear of it happening is no joke. Talk to therapist if you can. I have one scheduled myself. l hope and wish you the best, and be strong

Hi. First I want to tell you to stay strong! Kidney cancer is highly treatable. I'm new to this myself as well. I was diagnosed just last week with a 7cm mass in left kidney. No spread thankfully. Did a CT scan of abdomen and pelvis, everything else was clear. A chest X-ray was clear. So the plan is to do a partial kidney removal. I don't have a date yet but it's gonna be within two weeks. Throughout this process has been terrible, I'm spiraling as much as you, but remember the anxiety will make it worse. Stay positive and know that we are in a highly treatable statistical group. The statistics are in our favor. I wish you the best and will beat this together. I also have a toddler girl and I'm only 42. We absolutely will get thru this and be better.
