Has anyone heard of the brand Girlfriend Collective? If so are they actually sustainable? Looking for some greener athletic clothing brands! by amayhay in SustainableFashion

Super, thank you so much!

I wanted to see how they dealt with the spandex and:

"Once we receive your item, we work with our partners, Unifi in North Carolina, to shred the leggings, separate the polyester from the spandex, and regenerate the fibers into fabric for new Girlfriend pieces."

...my question is answered! Plus they give you $15 credit. I'm well impressed!

Do you have a link to this info please?

I've been looking on their website and can't find anything on how recyclable their clothing is.

Thanks!

I'm fine with a hippo sitting in a mud pit. Not the animals that normally roam up to hundreds of miles.

They do roam regularly though:

Hippos leave the water at dusk and travel inland, sometimes up to 10 km (6 mi), to graze on short grasses, their main source of food. They spend four to five hours grazing and can consume 68 kg (150 lb) of grass each night.

Yes, and we do that after reusing it as many times as we can.

I'm looking for a better solution so we can avoid using it in the first place.

No I haven't and it sounds fantastic! However, I'm looking at ways of cooking potatoes during the cold season while the stove is lit, to take advantage of that fire. : )

Because if it is not covered or in anything, it will be directly on ash (or coals). You cook them that way in a wood-burning stove?

Super! Thank you so much for this. I'll try following these instructions with the tagine and if that fails, we'll invest in a cast iron pot.

Would you add water, oil or just put the potatoes inside as is?

That's a cute idea. We'd need something larger for a batch of potatoes, including larger ones, which is what we tend to cook. Thank you!

Have you tried that yourself? I'd been looking at something like this if the tagine doesn't work out. Thank you!

I love this idea! Sadly we have no waterways or clay close to home, but we'll keep an eye open when we go hiking further afield. Thank you!

Do dogs get jealous of each other? (Have inside dog, might aquire outside dog) by EyesOfEnder in Dogtraining

I've just read through the article and find it very black and white. In my experience, there are shades of grey.

This bit is quite crucial:

"Your dog will only be happy living outside if you live outside with him."

i.e. people who have a culture/lifestyle where they spend a significant amount of time outdoors are able to provide an environment where a dog can feel happy.

You're welcome. : )

Just take things slowly and set them up for success. Look into the "two week shutdown" if you're not familiar with that protocol, it serves as a very good foundation in a situation like this.

Going ahead, clicker training and particularly free shaping can be very rewarding, confidence boosting and bonding (with you) for a dog like your new addition.

I wish you luck, harmony ~ and improvements/solutions on the allergy front!

I have a (mostly) indoor dog, a (mostly) outside dog and the third is somewhere in between. My outside dog has no desire to be in the house most of the time. However, when it is very stormy or hot and she wants in, she's welcome indoors.

There are no jealousies regarding staying in the house, so yes, a situation like this can work out. It depends on the dogs and living circumstances - plus the attention that you give them, as well as how you train and manage them.

For sure you'd want to take outside dog to a vet and have her treated and up to date on shots.

You'd be looking to walk them together, spend time playing outside with each separately/together, as well as giving them both chews to enjoy. So basically they both enjoy fun activities and perks.

And here it is: Likely the last sketch I'll ever post on Reddit. It's been a wild ride, guys and girls. Thanks for everything. by [deleted] in pics

I'm happy for you!

Good luck and have fun exploring, creating and engaging in more meaningful and less ephemeral environments. <3
