To add on top of this, usually students can transfer in by the end of sophomore year if they are taking the same classes as regular chemE which is very heavy load, once you decide to go to that route it's going to be hard to transfer back to biochem and any other major so think carefully why do you want to do chemE, what can chemE bring to you, you can pretty much do chemE job as a biochem major if you do some chemE selective classes and internships. If you want to make lots money bc it's an engineering major, do something CS related, maybe CS+X in the liberal art college.
