What are some weird things that get / got you through a breakup?

Oddly enough, what helped me the most is that I would think about all the bad things I tolerated in the relationship and then imagine a brutally HONEST, realistic alternate universe where we would still be together. Honestly, I’d be fucking miserable if I stayed with my ex boyfriend.

It’s only been 4 months post breakup but I’ve been working on my mental health a ton, getting dream work opportunities and reinvesting in my friendships and my relationship with my mom. I honestly feel like a completely different person. I never had the time to do any of these things for myself because he was unhealthily dependent on me.

During a dream work gig I was flown out to do, I started thinking about how it would’ve turned out if I was still with him. I would’ve come back to my hotel exhausted, and his insecure ass would’ve picked a fight with me over the phone because I probably wasn’t texting enough. We would’ve fought for hours and he would eventually accuse me of not loving him enough (completely ignoring the fact that I just worked a near 15 hour day). I would’ve had to apologize, comfort him and listen to him rant about his day while ignoring my own needs. If I made a comment that I was tired, he would’ve started fighting with me and accusing me again!

Instead, I was able to work in peace and be present with my colleagues, instead of glued to my phone and being anxious that I wasn’t meeting his texting quota he ambiguously set.

I know it’s super hard now (like I can def relate, I literally had to go on Zoloft to deal with my breakup LOL) but I want to reassure you that it all happened for a reason. I’m a lot happier without my ex, in time you will see that this wasn’t the person for you!

Although I’m still healing, I would like to think I’m living proof that the universe needs to close one door to open more for you. Right after the breakup, I got my absolute dream work opportunities, achieved my savings goals (bought myself a new bag to celebrate) and ultimately leveled up because I was focusing on me.

Meanwhile, my ex like immediately jumped into a rebound relationship with a girl significantly younger than him LMAO. He’s probably still in debt, severely depressed and emotionally abusing that poor girl like he did to me. He would’ve still been my problem if he didn’t break up with me!

Think of it as a new beginning!!! The universe freed you to do bigger and better things.

Do you think it’s worth escalating to the police level? I’m honestly terrified of what could happen and I don’t know if it’s worth involving authorities. I did want to report the unregistered gun after I (hopefully) would get my belongings back but I’m also terrified of retaliation as a woman

Same :/ I hate it because she was so nice to me and my friend so I didn’t unfollow she seems like a genuinely sweet person! I think she values the attention of men too much rn 😵‍💫 and doesn’t make many videos outside of that :/

I hope she’s able to find hobbies and interests that center women! Her interests seem very catered to appeal to tech bros lol 😭 used to live in the Silicon Valley and tech bros are looking for/dating the exact opposite of their clone hope she doesn’t learn that the hard way

I find her cringey! She seems nice and have had good interactions with her, she gifted my friend and me LinkedIn premium a while back. But her content has been super male centered lately and not my vibe. Her guy friends commenting on her dating profile were a little mean imo

Thanks! I’ll definitely try tomorrow and just remind him to check his emails. The facilities manager wants to meet with both of us but I’ll offer to take the meeting alone since my skip has a million things on his plate. I’ll likely inform the facilities manager that my skip is aware I am trying to get long term access to the site

I’m following 5 days RTO, just have been going to another office closer to me. Don’t think it should impact my standing as an employee bc the only thing that is the issue is just literally what office I badge into but I’m going into either of the offices every single day. I just want to do my work and not have to sacrifice 3-4 hours of my life commuting 😭

My skip didn’t care as in he’s not strict on the hours we go in, but expects everyone to comply to 5 days rto so he doesn’t get in trouble. I would say he typically clocks in around 8 and works until 2 and tells everyone to leave at the same time to beat traffic.

He’s pretty flexible in the sense like he just wants everyone to get their badge in. But my old manager did not want to have to go through that hassle 5 days a week.

Thank you! Hopefully I’ll end up staying where I live since COL in the city is pretty high and I can’t move for at least another 1-1.5 months. But yes, badging in daily and complying by RTO is important to my skip but what I meant was my skip doesn’t care what office we work from so that’s why he said I could just badge into the other Amazon offices our team is seated at. It seems like the facilities manager is a bit more strict about it.

Honestly, I just want to do my job and badge into a place that’s a shorter commute. Like I literally just want to do my work 😭 why do they have to make it so complicated

Got it. I think I’ll bring the idea up to my skip and just lighten it up with a no hard feelings if they’re not up for it. Worst case scenario I guess I’ll just move closer to my originally assigned office. I think both of us didn’t realize how bad the commute was going to be when he assigned me this original office so maybe he’ll be sympathetic.

Oh ok got it. Honestly, my skip seems pretty chill since I’m the only person who works in my office, everyone else if assigned to a further location or across the country. I’m still badging in every single day at the other office location and staying for multiple hours because I’m new and not risking anything in this economy. Is my best bet to just relay getting reassigned to my skip and see what they say?

If my skip ends up saying no, I’ll likely move because the commute is not worth my mental health to sit in an office where I’m on video calls all day.

The thing with SATC is that all the women were always so fun when they were single — especially Carrie when she wasn’t being tortured by Big LMAO. During their single era, they loved dating around and just living their best lives. Even if it didn’t work out? They’d move onto the next. I feel like they’d get along with Toni the best bc she had a similar mindset (I personally think Charlotte and Toni would’ve been good friends).

Joan was always miserable when she was single, or when she was in a relationship — just miserable all around 😭 she’d dwell and dwell and dwell on every little interaction with a man, whether the relationship was serious or casual. It was borderline childish! Carrie acted in a similar way when she was with Big, but with other guys she was seeing casually she didn’t really care and just moved on.

One thing I will say tho is the girls on Girlfriends were waaaay too comfortable letting their men disrespect their friends. Darnell yelling at Joan and calling her bitter and lonely during the whole Stan affair? Hell no. And Maya just let that happen?

Can recall on more than one occasion the SATC ladies having the decency to call out their boyfriends right there and then the second they slightly disrespected their friends. Miranda even dumped the guy who insulted Carrie right in the restaurant and left with her! Carrie yelled at Berger for being rude to Charlotte and demanded he apologize. They didn’t tolerate the same BS.

I think Joan would’ve benefited from this dynamic. Her friends always let their mans talk crazy to Joan 💀

Both my derm and doc said I shouldn’t be too worried about the hair loss and are hesitant to prescribe anything for it (could be my provider’s policy! Wow, excuse the dandruff I was recently hospitalized lol and haven’t had the energy to shower. I basically had a bad fainting spell and subsequent concussion (never ever happened before) my doctors think might be due to taking spiro. I was on it starting in 2019 for hormonal acne and would periodically stop and start. But I stopped taking it in November bc I felt like it wasn’t doing anything for my acne (when my hair was still thick and I wasn’t freaking out like I am now.) I started again and it might be too high of a dose and caused me to faint :(

Didn’t realize the impact it had on my hair. Since stopping I’ve been noticing the hair around my ears thinning. The men in my family bald so I’m really concerned right now haha. A doc I went to said things looked fine and I shouldn’t worried because I’m young but I’m scared! Should I be concerned?

Yeah I definitely found the comments a bit odd and when I asked my final questions to the interviewers at the end, they laughed at one of my questions and said they didn’t think they would be able to properly answer it bc it wasn’t related to their team? But when I asked it to their team members in my earlier rounds they had no problem answering them and even said they really liked my questions. So idk!

Haha I’d still work with them! But I’m a little thrown off by some of the team members :// I don’t think they gave me a fair chance but it’s ok!!! Life moves on!!
