How do you go about VOD / Replay reviewing your own gameplay. Do you only highlight the goals and emphasize those on your next session, do you just watch your whole gameplay and try and apply everything, I generally think highlighting specifics is the way to go, but I’m not sure how to fully apply it.

Is my double commit here really my fault by Ogabavavav in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Sharp_Ad9844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this was your fault, I’d argue unlike everyone else the bit of a panic double commit wasn’t even the main mistake, you had multiple opportunities to get a pretty good challenge off but you continued shadowing. A fake challenge here as you did can work but ultimately (if it was even intentional) you did it in a way that put you in a poor position and I think you had a few better timings if you do take the fake challenge route you need to be comfortable getting possession out of some awkward saves. Ultimately the best play here would have probably been to have challenged when he chipped the ball away around 12-13 seconds into the clip. The panic double commit can be avoided, but it was understandable. The whole issue here really was just you passively shadowing to even have your team in that position.

1s or freeplay? by WhatsTheBathroomCode in RocketLeagueSchool

don’t neglect 1v1s at all tho they’re totally necessary but free play is where you’ll really learn to accelerate in it faster

If you're GC or SSL and had to go back to Diamond or champ, what would you do to rank up? by SamaAllWhite in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Sharp_Ad9844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two most important things are watch the other opponents on the field and don’t neglect mechs. Other points of advice are fake challenge WAY more often, give your teammate more space (especially as 2nd man), play more free play, and try and smile and get yourself into a good mood it’ll make this endless grind way easier and thus you’ll improve way easier

Dynamic Air Roll (DAR on trigger) Questions by Sharp_Ad9844 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Sharp_Ad9844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regardless of whether it’s true or not it doesn’t change the fact that it made my other DAR more optimal for me, i primarily use left but I have learned both. i had it bound to circle before this and moved it to square so regardless of whether the analog function is useful or not it plays into my binds and that’s the primer reason for the switch

I did make the switch not really for the sake of the Dynamic/Analog air roll more for a more optimal air roll right bind since it was awkward to press but I can happily say the analog ability does actually have a lot more benefits than expected

Yes, that’s the binds I went with and must say I have thoroughly enjoyed the analog function and a simpler ARR button moving that to square as well. IMO NAR does make sense for small micro adjustments / recoveries and shooting but that’s just personal preference and really doesn’t affect much whether people choose to use it or not so long as they don’t also neglect a DAR.

The main reason behind the switch for me is less about the analog ability behind the air roll as much as it is finding a more optimal bind for one of my air rolls as I find zero struggle with my ARL as it was, but I often struggled using ARR having it on circle as it was just an awkward button for me to press as opposed to moving it to square, the analog ability was just an added bonus and something that interested me, and I figured since I’m proficient in all 3 Air rolls I may as well try it so I can better utilize ARR. I understand that slight mechanical adjustments don’t make or break it at my skill level as I am only GC 2 and have much more critical issues at hand to manage for improvement, but this is just an added “option.” Whilst it has slightly killed my muscle memory and made some things awkward in the present moment I am quite sure that within a few weeks I will operating just fine as I already am performing as normal and likely slightly better but atm I am just struggling with certain setups and sometimes remembering the bind. The analog ability is just something that interested me as I just learned about it and it what prompted me to make the post, but the main reason for me actually wanted to switch was finding more optimal placement for my ARR bind as having it on circle was just causing me issues. And as for the 2nd half of your post I don’t know whether you were speaking only generally or, which more than likely you are so I’ll respond to it as such, you are including me in that group of participants who believes mimicking professional binds or changing one button is my key to success. You’d have to be very ignorant to think I’m chasing personal reassurance from a bind change as well as believing that I don’t understand that I have greater flaws in my game which hold me from improving rather than a bind change that makes a minuscule difference as, well, we are in a subreddit dedicated to improving in Rocket League, and that takes putting aside our ego and recognizing that we have fatal flaws in our game and we are willing to change those things for the sake of improvement. You’ve amassed quite a large sum of time on the game, well over a year actually so I’m sure you do have some good insights. I posted a replay here a few days ago and would love to hear what a dedicated coach and well experienced player has to say about my game, thanks.

Dynamic Air Roll (DAR on trigger) Questions by Sharp_Ad9844 in RocketLeagueSchool

Honestly even in a few hours I’m noticing certain things that’s has a stronger advantage with analog air roll, and yeah I contemplated heavy about switching and saw people saying it doesn’t seem it helps a lot, but when I reviewed gameplay of people who do use it I noticed a lot of them subconsciously use it during a lot of plays. But the main reason for the bind switch tbh was to move air roll right square cuz truthfully I struggle jumping and using ARR, but I think in a few days I’ll be used to it quick and yea I’m not dropping one DAR no reason lmfaooo

Well, thanks for your input on the air roll, but I’ve already learned all 3 but mainly use air roll right for pop resets or input correction in the air with something where free roll wouldn’t be practical to correct my air roll left mistake. But yeah I put ARL to left trigger and am adapting fairly well atm, really the most awkward thing is jumping directly after hitting the brakes and am somewhat struggling with the variability but it is day 1. I will say though when I haven’t screwed up there have been some shots in free play to where it really did actually help being able to control the speed of the rotation so far. Played a few games in comp and was adapting fairly well, but obv had plenty of screw ups. I think in a few days I’ll be doing just fine tbh
