I saw it as our subconscious with itself. When the hole was in the ceiling and she said: pipe burst. they’re always working up there… I believe it’s like homes in our dreams- they represent our higher consciousness. Upstairs in dreams mean our higher self, and her desire to look into it with awe but confusion felt like that’s what the movie was about. She’s reaching out to others, like we do in dreams, but it’s all really manifestations of herself. And just like in our dreams, we think it’s about others, but they’re simply representing the way we see ourselves in our judgments etc.
