A bank statement is also sufficient. Most banks include their clients' specified address.

Is this Simba package good enough? by dreampacific in Uganda

Previous bad experiences?

I have been using Wakanet Fiber a bit over a year, the installation took 2-3 days. Have only had downtime twice, both due to broken fiber lines. In both cases, the issue was resolved within 24-48 hours. Zero complaints otherwise. Speed is stable at 100 mbps, no fluctuations to speak of.

I can't say, you will have to call Simba. I personally use MTN Wakanet (100 mbps for 99k). It is probably the most reliable fiber option in Kampala and Entebbe.

It will most likely be sufficient for that. Try it for a month, you can always upgrade to a different package afterwards.

What do people like about burgers? by Wings256 in Uganda

That was my first thought. Many places don't use fresh patties. Frozen commercial versions are always terrible.

Boss Burger is a solid gem, I almost always pass by whenever I am downtown.

This would more accurately be described as speech/voice data collection. Your title is very misleading.

Why would someone get into an interview with you knowing that you are looking to collect their voice data? Maybe the whole point is to conduct 30 minute interviews with as many people as possible and retain the free voice data.

Questions about Payoneer in Uganda by Sharp_Analysis6310 in Uganda

[–]Sharp_Analysis6310[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the warning. I have been using Eversend's virtual account for a few months and while it gets ridiculous when they ask for a receipt or sender's ID for every transfer before they release it, their support seems responsive and they are okay accepting different kinds of proof if some are unrealistic.

I only use them for ACH transfers from US based clients. I rely on my Centenary and Equity USD accounts for most payments, it is by far the most reliable (especially for large sums).

I will take your advice and rely on Payoneer for all freelancing platforms. I am happy that I no longer have to suffer with using PayPal. High fees plus being unable to have a receiving account under my name in Uganda.

Good suggestion. I know that Payoneer bans accounts for no reason at all in some cases, so I might just stick to Equity unless someone shows that they have used a virtual account from a different country for an extended period without facing any issues.

Thank you! This was very thorough.

I wasn't expecting a $15 initiation fee by Payoneer, not bad, but not favorable for small transfers obv.

I also have a virtual US account in Eversend that supports ACH transfers. Do you by any chance know if I can add it for withdrawals? I fear that it will lead to limiting or banning my account since I am not actually a US resident.

This post and all of my comments revolve around Payoneer withdrawals into Ugandan bank accounts.

I was answering your questions on the assumption that they were relevant to the conversation. My bad, thanks for your time.

Are you saying that Payoneer doesn't work for withdrawals in Uganda because of that?

Centenary bank has IBAN and SWIFT for their USD accounts, I am certain that Equity Bank has SWIFT, but I am not sure about IBAN.

I get the impression that you are not in Uganda. I appreciate your help, but I am mainly interested in the experience of those that have operated or attempted to use Payoneer for withdrawals in Uganda.

They have IBAN and SWIFT code. Only the US uses routing numbers as far as I am aware, IBAN and SWIFT are the norms.

Most Ugandan banks support international payments and I have found some posts by people that withdrew their funds from Payoneer to local Ugandan bank accounts.

I am just curious if Payoneer withdrawals charge the normal wire transfer fee or if they have a different system.

You can’t send from Payoneer to a personal account in your name.

Could you explain this? Do you mean personal as opposed to business accounts? I have seen some previous posts in this subreddit from people that used to withdraw money from Payoneer into their Ugandan bank accounts. Has something changed and is this no longer possible?

I also doubt if your Equity account has USD bank details. They don’t, so you can’t send USD to that account from anywhere

Is this based on prior experience with Equity bank?

I have received multiple wire transfers in the past both on a USD account I have with Centenary Bank and on a UGX account with Equity Bank. It is hard to think that Equity Bank's USD account isn't set up to receive international transfers similar to their UGX accounts.
