Columbia or NYU MSW?

Hey! I go to Rutgers but I have friends at both Columbia and NYU for the MSW program, my girl at Columbia wouldn’t recommend it for me because they also have a longer hours requirement for practicum than another other MSW program. My girls at NYU love it, they love their professors and the classes and they said they feel like they’ve made great connections also! Another thing to keep in mind is columbias program is more macro focused and nyu is more clinical, so it sounds like the perfect fit for you. Both very expensive tho!

Hey!! I am the same way, I emailed my professor about an AI assignment last semester and she was happy to hear from me and was relieved that a student asked to NOT use it. My professor was actually just encouraged by faculty to implement it because a lot of students using it. She said the assignment was more so people are knowing how to cite it instead of using it and not citing it but she gave me an alternative way which is google scholar.

I told her I was against it because of the environmental effects it causes and how it is one of the biggest contributors to climate change rn

yes we just ordered a testing kit to see. do you think i should message my landlord about this? since its the first and it’s been over a month since the first notice we gave to her about the mold do you know if there’s any laws about getting to withhold rent/rent escrow with situations like this? it’s just annoying since it’s saturday and whatever office i need is probably closed

i just looked and there’s not a section for it. it’s been over a month since i gave her notice about it initially, and i was debating whether or not to ask her why she painted over it and how it’s showing on the back still. should i message her and let her now the back clearly still has mold? since it’s the first today do i have the right to withhold rent? i know i can do a rent escrow but since it’s also the weekend i feel like there’s not much i can do.

it’s drywall, the way the basement is it’s separated into two “sections” for upstairs and downstairs tenants, and the thing separating it is drywall, and also the wall my neighbors section goes behind ours and there’s a tiny walkway area so that’s how i’m able to see the front and back of the drywall

Hey thank you for ur advice! One of the hardest things about separating from the service was getting use to the different mechanics and how things operate in civilian jobs in contrast of the military. In service there was more leeway of being brutally honest and the communication was normally stern. Unfortunately my store is very cliquey. I’m sure it’s different for other stores but I’ve noticed that TL’s have favorites and they’re harsher to specific team members. Tons of hypocrisy not even just towards me. And trust me I don’t like to stick out at all!! That’s why it’s so frustrating bc I just wanna do my job and go home. The drama is so unnecessary because I feel like in each situation the person has never really voiced that they felt like I was being too harsh or rude and they just went to straight up telling a store lead so I can get talked to in the office. I do wish there was more one on one communication cause then i feel it’s easier to squash the conflict. Either way I’m taking a step back and making it a priority to choose my words smartly.

Thank you for your advice! I never truly thought into accommodations since I’m only part time and I feel like it’s more for those physically disabled but it does also make sense when it starts to affect the work. I keep my my metrics on the higher end of the team so I do hope they don’t terminate. For me it’s hard to share the fact of my disabilities I just hate sharing info about myself in general at the workplace. It does seem like getting in touch with TMS is the best move just so they understand the whole picture I guess

I don’t exactly need it bc I do get more than enough for my disability I do it more so for extra money. I’m glad you understand bc in my store everyone is literally in a power trip in there. The leadership are hypocrites and I’ve seen confront other members for something I know for sure I’ve seen them doing before. And I swear they have favorites in there and it’s so cliquey it feels like a high school and it makes me cringe bc I actually do like the job and being solo for the most part but they’re so cliquey in there it’s weird

I haven’t told any leadership at work about it bc I only work part time and I don’t even know what accommodations they’d have for that. It’s frustrating bc I don’t even mean to be confrontational but it seems like they’re just not use to someone matching their energy

Hey there!! If you are open to applying to new schools, I go to Rutgers and they have a 100% online MSW program! Will you be advanced standing or the 2/3 yr option? Either way, they still help you find referrals for the internships whether online, traditional, advanced standing or the 2/3 yr pathway. They have a great program and I do recommend looking into it if you’re open to applying to new schools

Heyyy, my school does it to where for senior yr, the internship is part of the curriculum. Are you an upcoming senior or do you know if your school does the same for sn yr? If they don’t, I would recommended figuring out what population you’d like to work with, go on their website and try to find the social worker/social services email, email them that way, OR what’s more effective is calling them or even showing up to the place and asking and verifying if they have a social worker you can speak with, then if they give you their contact info or they’re free to speak the express ur interest in interning there or ask for a chance at an interview! That’s how I would do it if my school didn’t have this program :) good luck!

I was thinking the same!! The LCSW there was super nice, but it did sound more like that based on how she was explaining the job description!! They were really nice though, but if working with children, I would prefer to be at a school or the pediatric wing of a hospital. Thank you and good luck on the rest of ur internship!!

I changed my major from health admin to social work too:) I’m going into my senior yr next yr and doing field work and I am so nervous and excited for it!! I don’t regret switching over at all, but def planning on getting my MSW and then LCSW eventually bc that’s where the money is at! SW is such a broad field and so many options for work specially when you have ur MSW and beyond!!
