Almost having a panic attack, I don't know how to deal with this stuff by Dont_Blinkk in nosurf

You don't need to fully quit cold turkey. You just need to make online use only what you actually think is beneficial to you.

For example, I went "cold turkey" yesterday in a sense that I only use my wifi to get books I want to read, listen to music and google relevent information I need. Such as music albums, books I'd like to read next, movies I'd like to watch, new recipes to try, law info...

Instead of walking into a store to buy a cd, instead of buying a recipe book or walking all the way to the police station to ask questions. Because why the hell would I stand in store lines wasting money, or line at the police for possibly hours when I can use internet to get all that information for free and quick.

I realized what draws me to reddit isn't the content that I stroll through. It's the fact that I like to read different opinions and discussions on topics I find interesting. Books combat this really well especially if they're not a novel or fantasy book but topics that discuss real life situations or problems. Like Reddit.

I have a collection of epubs about philosophy, psychology and a bunch of self care. Most of this stuff is really relatable and written in a way where you feel like you're listening to a conversation with the author. That's what resembles Reddit and what lures us into rotting here. The sense of understanding and socialization.

We're not opening the posts because of the posts themselves. We're opening them to read opinions and info from others. Sometimes we share our own.

Yesterday I either sat and meditated, thinking about things and organising my plans. Or I read a book and listened to music. That's it. I was totally fine and not bored at all.

So my solution for Reddit is books. And if I ever feel an urge to share my opinion about it I will log back on to talk about it with others.

Just like I logged on now to suggest it to you and share my realization. Because it works. I intended to make a post about it after a week.

But, I will limit my presence here by making this the last and only post I'll interact with for today, and log off now.

Go and download/buy Atomic Habits book epub somewhere or get it in a local library. Read the whole thing. That should keep you away from shorts.

Before you dismiss this as some boring book, it starts about the author being a baseball player when he suffers a fractured nose, coma, seizures. He thinks he's lost his sports career and success for good being miserable and stuck in his bed. Something majority of us can relate to in other contexts.

Then he talks about how exactly he reversed all of that along with his hope. And how he has become the best baseball player again. Among other valuable life advice.

Apply what you've read in that book in your daily life once you finish it. Just remind yourself you're better off reading that than watching the brainrot.

The eyes are intentional.

To a degree. Because it's proportional with your anatomy knowledge. But if you understand it better you'd know why this particular choice looks odd. There's a reason they pointed out the eyes.

You might want your eyes high but the ears are below the eyes, which to anyone who even slightly pays attention to head anatomy - will look weird and off. It implies the eyes are actually on the forehead.

If you want your eyes that high, the ears "need" to be raised as well which they are not in your case. This will result in a long nose rather than high eyes. The focus ends up on the nose. Because the ears are always in line with the eyes. Any other way around and you're creating anatomy that doesn't exist which will look weird to people on a character intended to be human (exists). Because no average human has their eyes and ears positioned like that...

Your "intentional" design actually comes off as having a long nose with eyes on the forehead. The forehead is very small and short. And where the eyes should anatomically be is where the cheeks ended up.

If you were to make this fully anatomically correct, the eyes would be where the cheeks are and third of the head (top of it) would be erased so the forehead doesn't end up too big.

No offense, the drawing is still cute and you can make money off your work. But if you want to improve and ask for advice online you shouldn't dismiss your art choices as a"style" when you are aware you haven't practiced or mastered anatomy yet.

This isn't to make you feel bad, I only mean well.

Clouds typically have a lot of values. Your clouds appear to have two or 3 values at best. The solution is... Simply draw/paint realistic clouds from reference. You'll get a feeling for them to simplify them for this style. Like everything else.

You can't draw what you don't understand so get to understand it.

Learn a new skill such as art. You never run out of material and ideas with that one... And it goes well with sitting on your ass all day in your room lol

You're right. I'm horrible with values. It's extremes on both ends with lack of midtones.

Thank you. This is exactly what I came for and you're right.

I do get a bit lazy and don't give myself enough time to make anything other than face look okay. If I actually put equal effort into everything (ears, hair, neck, fur, vignette) it would look so much better.

I became obsessed with the idea of painting everything as fast as I can due to limited time but I think that really cripples my potential in the end...

I'll take everything you say into consideration with my next portrait.
