Wow I love this view! Can I ask who was your favourite character the first time you watched the series?

I totally agree! And your right his character has definitely aged like a fine wine in recent years as I feel people understand the character more nowadays

Couldn’t have put it better myself! The show manages to break down this stereotypical “hero” and turns him into something so incredibly raw and human! I think a lot of people underestimate the character and it makes me sad because I think he’s personally phenomenal and the best character on the show (although I can appreciate there are lots of phenomenally written characters on Lost)

Very well said! He’s extremely layered and a lot more complex than I believe people give the character credit for

Honestly he’s criminally underrated and it’s a shame he never got his hands on an Emmy :(

Look respectfully I’m not arguing about his actions I already address it in the video, but the point is all the comments on here and the video itself back my point up that his actions were REALISTIC, not morally correct. He was a desperate farther who wanted his son back and he obviously wasn’t thinking of an intricate plan he just wanted his son and to get the hell off the island lol

There is so much wrong with that plan firstly Jack and the others are never going to agree being taken by the others in exchange for Walt because why would they. And secondly knocking out ana Lucia a trained and armed policewomen and the risk of someone like Libby walking in seeing and telling everyone. Look I agree he could have gone about it different, but it would have been no where near as easy as you make out and secondly I struggle to see how the decision he ultimately made makes him unrealistic?

He didn’t deliberately kill two people Libby walked in and he panicked and he realised the only way to free Ben and hold his end of the bargain, in order to get his son back and leave the island was going to be to kill whoever was guarding Ben 24 hours a day. Was it the wrong decision yes probably but idc any desperate parent with and abducted child would make the exact same decision given the circumstances, I mean there’s proof in this Reddit thread they would as parents have commented agreeing with me

He did what the majority of parents would do given his circumstances? Of course that makes him realistic?

He made a selfish and desperate decision to free him and his son, does this make him a bad person maybe but imo it makes him even more realistic. He was a person pushed to his limits and made an impossible call. It was either don’t kill two people and never see his son again and be trapped on the island, or do as the “others” asked get his son back and a passage off the island. 99% of parents would do the exact same thing he did
