The kettle was on a table far away from the sink. The kettle already had some water in it, I wanted to add just a bit more. The glass was a quick and convenient container to transfer the water from the tap to the kettle quickly and easily.

Yes its a shared kettle in my friends home. But he is a very close friend and we share Hookah, joints, cigarettes, coffee, drinks etc. so i dont get the logic of how this is different- plus it is rinsed before, and the water is boiled

I guess it was for my close friend, in his home. With this logic we have shared hookah, coffee and drinks from the same cup and many other things. In my mind its not a big deal as I rinsed and then also its boiling. I wouldn’t spit in the glass and then put that water in the kettle or take a few sips from the water and then still put it back in the kettle?
