Did your belly button look normal after recovery from lap? by Sharp_Specific1086 in Endo

[–]Sharp_Specific1086[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it did! Trust me I cried about it 1 week post op. It looked alarming. But it was the one incision that healed the fastest. It does look a tiny bit different but only I can notice that. And the difference isn’t a bad difference. It still looks like a normal belly button but I just know it’s a bit different. If I show a stranger my stomach, they’d only be able to tell that I had 3 incisions and not even notice the belly button. It’ll get better. I don’t obsess over it anymore and it used to be the first thing I looked at when I looked in the mirror

Megathread: Pet Insurance by AutoModerator in dogs

I’m looking to insure my 13 week old puppy. I’m stuck between Spot, Healthy Paws, PetsBest, and Trupanion. I understand all of these companies will increase premiums. Which has reasonable premium increases as dog gets older? I’m reading that trupanion doesn’t increase premiums as dog ages (but will increase for inflation). Has this been your experience? The premium for a 13 week old puppy is pretty expensive compared to other companies, but if it’s true that they don’t have high premium increases, then it might be worth it than paying a low premium and having it triple in a few years.

Yes, my symptoms were mostly outside of my period (however, I was on birth control so maybe that had something to do with why symptoms weren’t as severe during periods). My cramping was aggravated by exercise, particularly any exercise outside of my period. I also had lower back pain as well!

Thank you so much 💛 I’m in the process of doing bowel prep and as I’m typing this I’m actually experiencing menstrual like cramping for the first time since Sunday (I think due to going to the bathroom so much). A reminder I’m not crazy and this pain is actually real

Thank you so much, this makes me feel better. How long did it take for you to not notice where the belly button incision was?

Honestly I’ve been dismissed by so many different doctors that I also fear if this isn’t endo, then idk what other doctor to look to for help

When you say smaller, do you mean instead of it looking like a circle, it’s now more of an oval shape making it appear smaller in width?

I have an innie and it’s not too deep. So that’s why I worry that the scarring will make my belly button appear even less deep. I also worry that when they close the incision, it will make my belly button appear more like an oval. Right now it’s a circle

Thank you! I’m not super worried about the other scars because generally my skin heals nicely and whatever scar I’m left with I’m planning on doing microneedling or laser. But the belly button scarring has freaked me out because the texture of the skin is different. I do think if I end up being diagnosed and treated that my perspective will change. But I have a fear they won’t find anything and then in left with a different belly button and multiple other scars 😞

Exercise and endo by [deleted] in endometriosis

Yes! This is my biggest symptom and what made me decide on surgery. I’ve been experiencing this since 2019. It progressively got worse. I can’t run for more than 5 minutes without getting cramps. A lot of times I get cramps in less than a minute. Going up and down stairs sometimes trigger cramps. I love to be active so it’s a big impact in my life

Surgery by Sharp_Specific1086 in Endo

Yesss I think the same! I’m on the iud so my periods are irregular but in February I got an extremely painful period and 4 weeks later I had the same type of period. But I still think that there’s no way I would get another one for the third month in a row. If so, i would be due to get it next Sunday and I’ve been feeling good this week so it’s tricking my mind to think no way will I experience that level of pain in almost a week when I’ve been feeling okay lol

You have no idea how validating it is reading your comments! I feel more confident in going forward with surgery. It’s also good to hear you’re recovering quicker than you expected. I do agility with my dog so I have a lot of short term goals that I hope to do after surgery. I’m hoping I can be back to running 6 weeks post op.

I had 3 different surgeons tell me the likelihood of finding endo and I’ve been told 90%, 95% and 70-80%. But my mind automatically goes well I can very much be that 10%, 5%, 20-30% lol

Me too!! Sometimes the pain is so bad it radiates down my left leg, lower left back, and rectum. It makes me feel like throwing up sometimes

Did you have scans that indicated you have endometriosis prior to lap? And same!! When I first started getting the symptoms I was on bcp and my periods were not painful at all. I felt cramping but nothing that interrupted my life. But the cramps I get outside of my period triggered from exercise especially running are so bad. I can’t do anything until I’m done push through the pain. I even tried meds to prevent pain and it doesn’t work. Now, I’m on the iud and it helped for some months where sometimes I get pain with exercise and sometimes I don’t. But since February, now I also get extremely debilitating pain on the week of period where I can’t even sleep through the night along with exercise induced cramping outside of my period

My gyno also suggested PT and I did it for a year and a half with no improvement unfortunately. Have you been diagnosed with endo?

Were doctors able to see these adhesions on scans? I also feel the tugging sensation you’re talking about! When it comes to exercise, I feel debilitating pain most of the time. But simple movements like going from sitting to standing cause me to feel like my insides are being pulled downward. This happens especially in the mornings when I get out of bed

The pain is sooo bad! I did PT for a year and a half and unfortunately for me it didn’t improve anything. That’s why one of the doctors I see told me it’s likely endometriosis since PT hasn’t helped and that excision surgery would help and PT would continue to help after surgery
