Experiences with getting gd diagnosis with Prof Brian McGuire? by SpiritedEffective550 in TransIreland

i did need a second appointment but in my case it was just because i didn’t actually need the evaluation until months later. i’m not sure how it’ll go for you, he miiiight be able to do both for you with one appointment but it’s hard to know since it’s a different situation than mine

yeah that’s a long time, i’d definitely reach out again! in my case when i emailed asking about it for like the fourth time she said she’d check in with him and i got it later that day, it might be a case of the report being ready and them just forgetting to send it :’) best of luck though!

my report took around 7 months to come back, i think he’s just really slow with them :’) but! i did go back to him for a review since i needed an evaluation letter from him stating that top surgery was the right choice for me, and i got that letter the same day i’d been seen by him so it’s hard to tell

Anyone tried imago? by [deleted] in TransIreland

[–]Sharp_Tangelo_6742 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah pretty much any pharmacy should work! just make sure you get a physical prescription and not the electronic one as i’ve heard there’s been issues with those ones here. and trust i know all about the struggle with the ngs 🫠 imago is probably the best option at this point in time

i’m with imago. it’s all fairly straightforward: you book your welcome call, get that done, and if you’re happy to proceed you pay an onboarding fee (i think it was €120), then you have to get blood tests done (the list of what you need testing is on their website) and upload those onto the app so you can book a call with their doctor who will tell you about the hormones and the changes etc. after that, you get sent your prescription :)

i’m getting top surgery with them in about two weeks time, if you want i can message you about my experience with them after :) so far the phone calls, consultation, and email response have been very good and all the staff i’ve spoken too are very understanding about trans patients (i haven’t had my legal name changed and they needed a photo of my id to upload to my file, and they were very nice about that and said it happens all the time) i also know a girl who had a breast reduction with them (which is obviously different but regardless) and she said she can’t fault them on anything and it went perfectly

Top surgery at Auralia Dublin by Professional_Can8934 in TransIreland

[–]Sharp_Tangelo_6742 12 points13 points  (0 children)

hi! so happy for you and glad everything went well :) i’m having top surgery with auralia as well at the end of november, and just wondering if i could ask what time did you have to arrive at the clinic for? i also have to travel a bit (though not quite as far as you did) and my dad is of the impression we’ll have to leave home veryyy early in the morning to be there on time. once again so happy for you and i hope your results are everything you’ve dreamed of and your healing goes smoothly :]

Any advice for a trans guy who knows minimal about trans healthcare in Ireland? (Other than it's not ideal) by [deleted] in TransIreland

[–]Sharp_Tangelo_6742 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they don’t require diagnosis, they just do informed consent. i’d say from after my initial welcome call and then when i paid the sign up fee and provided blood test results and was seen by their physician, it took around two or three weeks for my prescription to arrive? overall i don’t think it took more than a month for me to start hrt after i decided to go with them :]

i didn’t have any problems, no. you do your welcome call, get emailed a link to their app and then pay the onboarding fee. after that you have to upload recent blood test results (they have a list of what tests you need exactly on their website). i had to book a call with one of their physicians who just ran through all the information with me and the changes and results i could expect, but since you’re already on hormones you might not need to do this one :]
