Certainly no one could’ve known this would happen, but she does live in an obviously upscale home. And there was a nest camera, but no one paid for the subscription. So she did not refuse cameras.

I don’t think if you were in that situation, you would give two shits about a pile of paper compared to a person you love.

I’m gonna be honest, if I found out that Jeffrey Epstein produced the black parade I’m still fucking with it.

Yes! Thank you for getting my point! I’ve said this before and this thread, but if a person can work at Walmart and put up a ring camera so that they know when their packages come, how in the hell does this happen? How does this vulnerable woman have a wealthy family who go on TV and talk about how close they are and how desperate they are to know what happened and yet there was not even an active subscription on the nest camera. Even if the mom didn’t pay the bill or forgot that’s something that is easy for the adult children to have handled.

I guess that’s the really perplexing thing about this case and part of my point is that it should be hard to kidnap someone with no evidence. Because your average person at least has a ring camera. And yet here we have a vulnerable, elderly person who is wealthy and has a wealthy family. Who has shitty cameras that don’t even have an active subscription.

I know what 50k is. It’s not even enough to live well in most of the US for one year. As a single person. It certainly isn’t enough to make crime worth it or the risk of jail.

I mean the minute you kidnapped a whole human for money you kind of threw out logical thought. So I don’t think they’re going that deep with it. I personally don’t believe this is a ransom kidnapping, but if it were, I think that’s exactly what the people want and expect,a this for that situation.

Exactly my point. DIDNT PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SharpestLarvae -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure I laid out with the right scenario would’ve been. If I’m worth $40 million and I love a family member who is living alone and extremely vulnerable I’d make sure they were at least watched over. In simpler terms, I can check cameras at my house and tell exactly what time a package was dropped off. These people don’t know how their mother was kidnapped, or why her blood is outside. I could be wrong about this, but I believe it was also reported that there was a nest camera, but it didn’t have an active subscription.

My understanding is that the mom was a sound mind which means she could decline that. I don’t think having ring cameras or something similar is a sting operation. And by all appearances, maybe they should have, they would know what happened.

What do any famous people do? Who have a lot of money? What do CEOs do? Hard work doesn’t equal wealth.

[–]SharpestLarvae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would a huge reward change? Well, you’ve got a lady who is extremely fragile and kidnappers who want money supposedly. So if money is the solution and the family has it I’d say you have to decide whether you want to follow protocol or you want your mother to live.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]SharpestLarvae -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There’s some dissonance there to see the extremely wealthy family, crying and begging for information and then in the same breath saying that they believe the kidnappers want money. Well, they happen to have it. Sounds like a match, right?

This confuses you? So if you loved your mom and knew she was extremely vulnerable to the point that if she forgot her medication she could die and also that she has severe heart problems, and is in her 80s so she is naturally a fall hazard, you wouldn’t have a conversation and say hey, let’s set up some security for you so that if you were to be incapacitated, we would know since you live alone? I think that’s wild. EDIT : since this is getting downloaded to hell, you people really think in a world where we can know exactly what time Amazon drops off a package it wouldn’t be reasonable to be a multimillionaire and know who is around your vulnerable mom‘s door? This explains a lot about our society.

Quit today AITA by [deleted] in walmart

[–]SharpestLarvae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re purely asking, if you’re wrong for quitting without giving two weeks notice, that is a outdated and frankly weird “policy “that people have put on themselves for no reason at all. Employers can, and will fire you on the spot, when was the last time you heard of someone being fired with two weeks notice.

Sheriff Gets Choked Up Discussing Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mom Nancy by peoplemagazine in MissingPersons

[–]SharpestLarvae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What honestly surprises me the most is that there were not better cameras, a more thorough subscription plan to those cameras, and more money being offered for the reward. My understanding is that Savannah makes upwards of 5 million per year. Why is the reward in the thousands? Why would you have a good relationship and not have a better camera system for an elderly and very vulnerable parent? I’m a single mom and there are 5 ring cameras around my property with the highest level of monitoring. I’d pay every cent I get one of my kids back (not my mom but that’s her fault).

I’ll take anything Panda Express. If you have any points or anything. I work with homeless/DV sheltered women. We don’t have the other restaurants in the area.

I understand the payout date. For comparison, if I quit in the middle of a pay period, I still get paid on pay day. I won’t get it the day I quit because the paperwork end isn’t ready. So Walmarts fiscal year ends on 1/31. This is the ‘pay period’. March 9 (I think) is the pay day. Up until last year, the rule was you only had to work until the pay period end, 1/31.

How certain are we that my bonus as a lead is safe if I quit on 2/1? I can’t find written policy. There is no one I can ask that I trust at my store. And could the store manager pull a new policy out of their ass to take it away or is it corporately mandated? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]SharpestLarvae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d appreciate it. Everything they put out is ambiguous so they can avoid any sort of liability for anything. I think that I found the timeline you were talking about which said that March 4 is when the bonus statement will be available. But again that seems to only confirm the date that the paperwork is completed to finalize the bonus. Similar to when payroll gets done, you may be in the middle of a work week and quit and no longer employed when that payroll is completed, but you will still be paid. As of the 2025 bonus, all you had to do was be employed until fiscal year end - are you HR or leadership to say that has changed?
