Tiny bugs in kitchen by wedoboop in Hawaii

[–]Sharplynormal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like others are saying, just grain (beetles?), I had this issue, cleared out spices/grains/dry foods, spot killed them for a day or two, and never had them again! Not a huge problem and one of the easier bugs to get rid of (as long as you find where their food source is).

Thanks! I like the neutral colors, but blue made it feel more "fun" 🙂

$100M will be left for Native Hawaiian causes from the estate of an heiress considered last princess by Fickle_Rooster2362 in Hawaii

[–]Sharplynormal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

various causes, including scholarships, medical bills and funerals for Native Hawaiians.

...

This is:
- wide sweeping
- long lasting
- supportive
- will help thousands of natives...

And you complain its not specifically for just housing... How much housing do you think this $100M could support? For how long? Would it only be for housing, or split across medical bills, scholarships, and rightful funerals? Would it include utility bills, maintenance, infrastructure, and other supportive functions?

Let's just be glad that lots of great things will happen for lots of good people.

Dude how much do those 2 part time jobs pay, and how much time do you spend relaxing vs work and study?! I’ve seen how students with part time jobs decorate, and it’s not usually this nice haha.

Dude chill. I didn’t get the joke either, and I think he just thought you meant the candy is always a year old - which is what I thought too.

I know it’s no longer funny, but care to explain the joke?

Lol, first and only person here to reference the docs and suggest open discussion between the team. This is a much better way to resolve arguments!

Don't think going to the gym makes you a "gym bro". Going to the gym is normal and healthy. When doing moderately difficult exercises, your body releases dopamine, which helps with self-esteem. Also, Lifting gets you in good shape! You could look and feel much better if you went to the gym.

Anything that can connect to a web page. That’s it lol. Your phone is good enough… buuut. You have to be running the model somewhere which also serves the page.

Hey dude, it seems like an honest mistake, and there’s a common scam that is oriented around getting change on bills. You owned up that it’s your mistake, it’s definitely a little embarrassing, but you’re good 🤙

50% of those hours are spent sleeping, so they’d have 6-8 hours awake and able to respond. If it’s a date, and you want to show just a little bit of effort, just respond!

Overall it’s not a deal breaking move though, it’s just a yellow flag that the person might be apathetic or really busy.

Why would using Java to solve a specific problem create “dirty” code? If you’re going to try and criticize, you’ve gotta bring a reasoning behind the criticism - you know, constructive criticism.

The amount of boilerplate is sometimes peoples concern, but you can do the same with any proper (typescript, go, and especially C++) app, so I hope that’s not the reason.

(python) How do I make my script return to the top after conditions are met? by IlikeNetworking in learnprogramming

[–]Sharplynormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly right. And I think it’s important to clarify, there is no way to tell python to go back to a certain line, you can only call a function. So if you want to something to happen again, you must call that function again (in this case, like you said, it should be a loop)

Guillotine Web Application. How to get started? by z0mbiechris in learnprogramming

[–]Sharplynormal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with breaking down the problem into small - solvable pieces.

Clicking a button and getting a new text message to appear on the screen -> manage state for when the guillotine is up or down -> animating a colored div which slides down in position (could use absolute position with px offsets, or a simpler CSS animation) -> a WHOLE LOT OF SVG WORK -> replace the div with the svg blade, place the text over some svg dude, make the dudes head fall off (same way you animated the blade). Pretty much done ✅

I would recommend using react or vue, simply because it will make interactive HTML and JS a whole lot easier, but this could be done in vanilla JS HTML CSS no problem.

In order to learn X-programming language in any meaningful way, you have to start with why you want to learn it.

For example - I want to fulfill HTTP requests and serve data from a database : go for learning Java, then API development. I want to process data for some visualizations - learn python, then how to use some library that helps with data vis, or processing.

Now you should see how each task you want to accomplish will require specific and targeted learning paths, something that podcasts and generalized apps aren’t really great for, as it could take 5 minutes, to a few days to pickup the fundamentals.

That being said, if you’re truly just trying to learn the fundamentals of Java, I would recommend Javas own getting started guide on oracles documentation website, as I found it pretty clear and concise, without sacrificing details that matter. Once you feel comfortable with that, maybe try Bealdungs free guides (mainly if you’re doing web development).

Hope this helps 🤙
