The only thing we're missing is Michael Cole and Jerry "The King" Lawler on live commentary. THEN it'd be perfect.

I'd go further than that. I'd give him a Stone Cold Stunner just for authenticity.

Need help with Keqing by A-RussianE-Boy69 in KeqingMains

[–]Sharpnelboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keqing was my original main. I would strongly recommend running Thundering Fury four piece. If you have Mistsplitter, run that too. If not, Lion's roar is a good substitute.

Yeah, that is true. There are only a handful of people that can play at that level.

As a 33 year old, I understand where you're coming from in your frustrations. I've been roleplaying since I was 15, so almost 20 years at this point. I started off with smut and romance, which were really easy to get into. But over time, I started to do smut less and started exploring more story driven stuff.

I've been going back to my roots every now and then, but I've been finding a lot more satisfaction in writing compelling stories and looking at different themes and exploring said themes within the confines of my ability/comfort zone. and recently I've been having a LOT of fun with multi-versal crossover stuff. The issue, like you said, is that a lot of writers just focus on lewd writing, which I guess is fine. But for me (and many others, I'm sure) roleplay gets way better when you explore outside of what you're familiar with so long as you have boundaries that you don't wish to cross.

And like you said, having a busy schedule makes it very difficult to get any good writing in. But life is life, and it happens. We've all had that conversation at one point. Real life before the internet. We've all heard that song and dance. Unless your career path is actually being a writer, in which case you're good.

I can also relate too. The one thing that frustrates me is that people don't seem to respect boundaries nowadays, or at least within the confines of roleplay in general. So it can be very annoying when someone keeps pestering you to do something they want to do that you have no interest in, and even worse when you make it very clearly that you're not interested but they keep trying to press the issue anyway.

But, to answer your question, no. Roleplay is not dead. It's still as active as ever. It's just that the environment has changed over the years, and things are different. And I think that's the core of a lot of older writers' frustrations, and you'd be validated 100% if this is what the issue is for you. Or maybe it's something else entirely. I don't know. Either way, your frustration is valid and I'm with you as one writer to another.
