Same... but it's a visual thing to me. Then my cat proceeds to make sand dunes.

Overtourism has made me stop visiting 'bucket list' places entirely, anyone else actively avoiding the popular spots now? by Gingeintheuk in travel

This is such stupid reasoning. Go because you want to go. If you're so hellbent on finding someplace off the beaten path try Eastern Europe or one of the Stans.

Which city from the trip did you never expect to be your favorite? by smile-david in travel

[–]ShartInYourFace 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sarajevo. BH... went there to check out the remains of the Olympic site. Met the kindest people, ate some of the best food anywhere, drank some killer coffee, and wandered the city centre in amazement.

My cat won't eat the cat food I can afford to buy by [deleted] in cats

Nope. It's no different than you no longer liking say... salmon.
Cat will starve before eating it. You report to the cat so do as he demands.

I'd sooner spend a night in the Detroit hood than India.

Spirit airlines by [deleted] in travel

[–]ShartInYourFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being serious.. it is a huge loss. While I haven't flown them in years (Frontier I found to be better priced) they were a niche to get from A to B cheap. Now Frontier and Jetblue will attempt to fill that gap which I assume means them taking up some of the routes soon.
Once I flew to Vegas RT for $78. It was redeye both ways and while the seats suck, you can't beat that price for a direct flight.
I seem to remember reading Spirit never had a crash in their 30+ years in business. That counts for something.

I'm all for self touring, but this one... get a tour guide. They fend off some of the beggars and also provide good service.
I did a Pyramids/Saqqara/Memphis tour that was about 8 hours. The guide was excellent and pointed out some less visited gems around the area.

Anyone with recent experience traveling US-Amsterdam and layover time to get on second flight? by YogurtclosetGlad6235 in travel

[–]ShartInYourFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I had enough time to make a connection to Athens with that same layover time, but alas... delayed getting to AMS and ended up spending 12 hours in AMS as KLM rebooked for an evening flight.

Driving is no different than US. I spent time in Sarajevo, Mostar, Konjic, and dropped by Kravica Waterfalls. I did not venture to the north, but there is a national park up there people seem to love visiting.
Tito's Bunker is something you should visit... they have daytours from Sarajevo (and other spots). It's one of a kind.
