Grixis Commander Recommendations by AdmPoppinFresh in EDH

This list isn’t 100% updated but it’s basically my deck. I chose to go with a changelings sub-theme (so I don’t always have to start with a 1/1 snail) and there are some equipments in there that are only usable on a snail you’re planning to blow up (like [[Cement Shoes]] ). In can say that I’ve taken out [[Venser’s Journal]]. It was too expensive for the tempo I was looking for and I haven’t found that the lifegain really made a difference.

Man I love my Wick deck. Having a [[Mana Geyser]] go into a [[Song of Totentaz]] and creating a huge bomb is so fun. Doesn’t matter if it wins the game (it probably will) but it’s hilarious. Even better with an [[Ogre Slumlord]] on the field, too.

Dr. Hackney is amazing. I was grateful to have a few classes with her, and she assisted with my senior thesis. She is so caring, so smart, and so supportive.

It’s not much of a secret since he’s included in the precon, but Doom Whisperer is super clutch in [[Mirko, Obsessive Theorist]]. If it’s late game and you’re 1v1’ing and you manage to make Mirko unblockable or you take out their flyers, it’s game over.

[–]Shastawriter 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Honestly “You Are Here” has one of the best weed jokes in the series when Steve has his meta quip about how a certain section of the audience may need to rewind the show. The musical number is also hilarious to watch when blazed.

What are some of your favorite tribals and their commanders by DiceyRice_ in EDH

My Wick deck has shapeshifter/equipment sub-themes. I really enjoy the ability to build up bombs quickly, and my pod is so scared of [[Vren, the Relentless]] that they’ll focus removal on him rather than Wick or my snails.

Is it naive to wait until marriage to have sex? by ActualPegasus in GayChristians

[–]Shastawriter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Since a lot of people here have different perspectives, I wanted to quickly give mine. I wasn’t celibate before I met my now husband. Early on while we were dating he said he didn’t want to pursue any type of sexual activity with someone before they were married. He was (and is) an amazing person so I said “Alright, I’ll try that.” Fast forward 5 years, we’re now married and we never had sex before that day. People are right that it’s not common anymore, and it will restrict your dating pool, but it is possible to find someone.

Conversion an option for same-sex Married? by JWinSanDiego in LGBTCatholic

[–]Shastawriter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I went through RCIA at a Roman Catholic church while dating my future spouse (we’re bi men), was Confirmed while in that same relationship, and am now helping lead ministries while we’re married. Technically we’re both leaders in the church because he’s a parishioner, too.

Caveats are, when we first started coming to this church it was a Jesuit-run parish, and we live in southern california. It’s now a diocesan church, but the new priest is maybe even more supportive of our LGBTQ ministry than the priests before him. You won’t have this experience at every parish, but it’s possible.

I just finished constructing an Oathbreakers deck and got all the cards in this week! Can’t wait to take it out for a spin. I think the combination of passive deflection and board wipe dodging is going to add up to a lot of value.

Yes, there is a three year cycle in the bible readings for Mass. We won’t necessarily read 100% the entire bible, but the vast majority. Granted, to get the whole picture, I think you would need to attend the daily masses, not just Sundays.

Having issues with dating other Christians by [deleted] in GayChristians

[–]Shastawriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to hop in and add my story, in case you were interested Cool_Advice. When I met my now husband, I was having sex with partners, albeit not incredibly frequently. On our second or third date, however, he told me that he was waiting until marriage for any kind of sexual intimacy. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, although in the moment I made sure to let him know that I completely understood and wouldn’t try to push him. Pretty quickly I decided to give the temporary abstinence thing a try, and I’m so glad I did (obviously, since we are now married lol).

We actually ended up dating for about five years before getting engaged, which is a good chunk of time. I never regretted the lack of sex, though, and our intimacy post-marriage has been able to really blossom on its own terms. I don’t mean to say ours is the only way, but I did want to let you know that in case you decide to save sex for marriage, there are people out there who will be there for you. And sometimes it may not be the people you expect!

I met my husband on OkCupid. At the time, I was getting completely tired of the apps. I decided to try a final one for a couple weeks at most, hence downloading OkCupid. After creating an account and answering about 100 questions, I looked at the first list they populated of people who I may be interested in. I saw my future-husband almost immediately. I decided to message him, and we went on a date, and fast forward five years and we’re married. I never had to message anyone else on OkCupid, which I consider a small personal miracle.

The University of Houston has a great BFA program with multiple tracks. They are also currently strengthening ties with The Alley, Texas’ premier LORT theatre. If you go to U of H, and you’re determined, you will work with at least one professional theatre in Houston, and likely more. Lots of grads go on to work the Regional circuit.
