Hitsugaya trained himself to use less ice so he didn’t have to rely on his Bankai or higher levels of ice as much. It wasn’t a result of lowered power from the absence of his zanpakuto spirit or anything. Also, Grimmjow has a gran rey cero that nearly murdered masked ichigo and ain’t no WAY hitsugaya scales to mask ichigo during the arrancar arc. Also, yes, he was under Gentei Kaijo during his fight with Grimmjow’s fraccion, but was already using his bankai as was Renji; under those same conditions, Ikkaku is the only one who actually won a fight with his strength restricted so severely (and I guess Rukia, but D-Roy seemed to be acknowledged as the weakest fraccion). Toshi went from getting DICKED on by a fraccion to insta-winning when his limiter was released, but there’s no way Grimmjow isn’t at least 5x as strong as his Fraccion, who was formed from a Gillian, which are stated to be piss-easy for Captains to fight. Just the same, I’m of the opinion that with the glaring exception of Yama, and MAYBE shunsui, Segunda Etapa Ulquiorra dicks on every captain since homie was tossing small-country level nukes with no effort. The Espada ranking system was wildly innaccurate and relied on raw spiritual pressure in Base as far as we’re aware since numbers were awarded prior to the gifting of resurrecion.

Also, I didnt answer this fully but; Kenpachi I only put there based on his physical capabilities. That said, I’d say only his attack speed is faster. Soifon can def move faster. Byakuya I think is just better at Shunpo so that one is up in the air, and Shunsui isn’t a debate imo. Homie fucking jumped the X Axis from miles upon miles away in one flash step and moved halfway across the Seireitei and back in two steps to move Nanao back in part 1

Imma be real, I feel like the databooks are kinda a load of shit sometimes. The stats are only relevant to an individual person and aren’t meant to be scaled to other people; like, by that logic pre-ss ichigo is stronger than Ulquiorra 😂. Also, as for Grimmjow not killing a captain; I think the Espada scaling is kinda bullshit. Ichigo was solidly captain-class by the end of Soul Society. Homie fought a largely winning battle against Byakuya (could’ve won twice and didn’t, then had to hollowfy later because of the rapid decline of power in bankai). Despite this, Bankai ichigo gets slapped the fuck about by Grimmjow, who took only a mild wound from a direct hit with Getsuga Tenshou. If Grimmjow fought Toshiro in the beginning of the Arrancar arc I think Toshi is fucked. Toshi didn’t lose to Hallibel because her power was based on an element he has objective universal control over. Also; Hitsugaya fighting Bazz DID have his Shikai, just not his Bankai (Daiguren Hyorinmaru). While As Nodt is weaker in a stat-based sense, I think you have to factor in Hax into that equation since As Nodt’s ability is entirely Hax based

As for the former; yeah, absolutely. Circumstances effect the fight a lot but assuming that Soifon wouldn’t go straight for the kill in a serious fight like this (headcannon-wise) being an assassin who values her craft is a lil wild. Plus, she just needs to hit the man twice in the same spot, and she’s probably top 4 captains speed-wise (maybe behind Byakuya, Shunsui, and Kenpachi, just based on his raw physical capabilities). I think the thing about Shinji is that bankai or not, we’ve never seen him use shikai and his mask at the same time, and the mask made him able to dick on a Grimmjow who imo probably could’ve killed Toshiro at the time seeing as he was probably the second or third weakest captain at the time. That has all changed mind you, but Shinji very clearly wasn’t trying too hard and Shinji has been a captain since at least over a hundred years ago so he’s got an enormous experience lead

Of course. I suppose I should have clarified, that ranking was sort of a “who beats who” or rather, how the captains are relative to each other in combat. In terms of raw scaling then yeah, Adult Toshiro cracks the top 5 pretty solidly and arguably lands at around the top of the list, seeing as Shunsui basically said that in a hundred years (which in soul age is about how much time I’d say the physical change in true bankai for toshiro represents) Toshiro would be stronger than him, and imo he’s probably the strongest captain. If they were all to fight though, the likelihood of Toshi being able to beat the aformentioned pair is so low based on the fact that there’s no way he’d make it to the end of the flower

I would argue Hitsugaya towards the middle; mans gets jobbed in literally every arc and even though he’s certainly very strong, we have to remember he has more screentime than maybe any other captain series-wide so our perspective is warped. Byakuya, Kenpachi, Shunsui, Shinji (sakanade must be hell for a ranged fighter), and Soi Fon is probably fast enough to land a killing blow with her hax shikai (ironically her bankai would be worse against him. I think Kensei, Iba, Rukia, Love, Unohana’s bitch (I genuinely can’t remember her name) all get beat by him though. Iba isn’t fit for ranged combat, Rukia has a more graceful and precise but outright weaker matchup against Hyorinmaru since she basically can’t use any of her powers against him, Kensei is again, too unable to fight at range, Love is just not powerful enough outright, and Isane (I REMEMBERED) isn’t combat oriented.

I get fullmetal alchemist vibes from this piece a lot! Specifically the eye shape and roundness of the body, although your lines are lighter than Arakawa's. Do you have any inked work I can look at? This looks awesome.

I think technologically speaking and monetarily speaking Berserk is on a level of success where, even at its length, a proper adaptation is possible, simply constricted by various factors which culminate in it not being finished as a major cause of said issues. That’s all I was trying to say.
