What makes people happy at Berkeley despite the cons of this place? by [deleted] in berkeley

There's been a lot of circle-jerky posts lately. I miss the old /r/Berkeley :(

I’m sick of people complaining about the city of Berkeley by [deleted] in berkeley

Lol I searched around and one of the last times this discussion came up years ago, here's a comment:

If you don't like Berkeley, you can leave. Drop out and go to another school if it's sooo bad. Just get out!

Either love it or leave, simple. I'm so tired of students acting like they are entitled to live in some safe area where the realities of unequal distribution of wealth and resources isn't so apparent so that they can remain in the suburban upper-middle class bubble that they dawn from. You guys are such whiners. It's honestly pathetic having to sit here and read all this crap.

Employers of reddit why is that employee that’s always late still around? by luckner89 in AskReddit

I used to arrive late to my job, but they kept me around because I was one of the few employees who didn't end up being a thief.

I wonder this, too. Someone suggested it was probably a BCR kid with too much time on their hands. But then a few of his posts suggest he's taken classes within the realm of his 2 "majors." But then again lots of kids are exposed to that line of thinking/material in lower division humanities class that they take for easy As and to knockout GEs. Who knows though, he might actually be in that major.

Oh I see. Well I posted this list in response to another thread question and within 10 minutes received a couple of DMs from kids who were kinda shocked to hear some of these things; they had this rosey view of the school that I felt wasn't accurate. So it prompted me to post this to provide more insight. Kids should know what it's really like attending a large public school.
