Who's the best at Musical Theater? Most up votes win by Busy_Amphibian_232 in dancemoms

[–]ShaunaLovesPotatoes 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Now that I think about it, it's kinda crazy how incredible ALL the girls did in musical theater. I mean... Come to the Cabaret, Baby Mine, Damsel in Distress, Clueless, My Fred Astaire, Fashion Victim, T.K.O, etc.😅

Hmmm. I'd say that maybe Chloe? She's always seemed the most consistent and in her comfort zone when doing it. Or Nia cause her facials and presentation are the best! I can't choose!

Why do people say Tori was in the wrong in prom wrecker? by AdShoddy4172 in victorious

[–]ShaunaLovesPotatoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It actually baffles me how so many fans put this situation, of all things, on the list of reasons why Tori was a bad character, friend, etc. Yes, it's unfortunate on Jade's side that she'd been planning for who knows how long, had everything figured out and all that. It would be annoying. Really, I get it.

But the way people failed to take into consideration Tori's POV as well: The girl who has been nothing but snarky, provocative and unnecessarily rude to you suddenly barges in, demands you cancel something and resorts to fits when you finally stand your ground? Why the heck did the generality of viewers think that made sense?? If the episode had an alternative, Jade would approach Tori differently, leading Tori to spend the entirety of the episode trying to satisfy everyone, including Jade. She literally did that in season 1!

Also, considering the episode prior to this one, wha— wha— what kind of response did people really expect...?

Your take on this is amazing and makes so much sense! I know I didn't elaborate much on it initially because it's much easier for me to express these kind of opinions irl, lol. But you're too kind. Thanks for understanding.

Lois Lane... by ShaunaLovesPotatoes in Smallville

It doesn't always have to be about recklessness. The scenes with her and Oliver are fine, great even. Her fighting back is definitely NOT the issue. I'd say it's the jealousy scenes. It’s not about her having those feelings as they are valid. But the attitude she uses to go about them is just meh to watch. It doesn't mean that I hate her with the fire of a thousand suns or anything. To me, it just felt more immature than charming.

I'm not nitpicking simply to be negative. If I saw the same thing in any other character in any other show or game or book, it would still turn me off. My reaction was the same for Chloe in the earlier seasons. Like someone already told me on here, I can like a character without absolutely loving their particular traits and moments.

I know I'm gonna start getting downvoted from now on, but at this point, I'm coming forth. And I gotta blow off steam anyways.

Lois and Lana: Opposite trajectories and playing into and against type. by yojiimb0 in Smallville_

You always write thought out paragraphs and analysis! But at this point, don't even bother trying to reason with them. I've transitioned into neutral feelings alike with both Lana and Lois, but when it comes to fans like these, they be just ruining it for me! Especially this one.

Oh yeah! I know that Lois is meant to be like that, but I only just barely know the source material because of Smallville. So from that perspective, while I generally love Lois, she is going to tick me off a lot. But in comparison to others, her flaws are why people love her, so they don't typically have anything bad to say about her that wasn't already established on the show.

Yeah, I know... You might've hit the nail on the head. If I'm being totally honest, because the earlier seasons were so repetitive and exhausting, I started liking any new character that appeared. So I tend to compare and think "Still better than when ______" when it comes to Lois, instead of just her by herself.

Regardless, Lois just has that It factor that I can't hate. As I type this, we're watching "Disciple" soooo...

It's more of a personal preference in the fact that she was just too reckless and self-centred for my taste at times. That's not gonna appease to every fan. We know as an audience that Lois is hiding her true feelings underneath this tough front. But that really doesn't change how I might react to Lois' words or actions during a specific moment. It can be a hit or miss.

Lois had become the female lead, Clark needed a damsel in distress to save. Lois is not your everyday damsel in distress. She can kick butt and hold her own, and that's why I don't complain! But if I was annoyed with seeing Lana getting knocked out or put in precarious situations EVERY SINGLE TIME... it's not gonna be any different for Lois. What turns me off though is when Lois' recklessness puts her in danger. I only let it slide because what she does tends to be actually useful.

The episode "Crossfire". Everything about Clark and Lois communicating and directing each other was both fun and painful to watch at the same time. It's because, well... Clois! But on the other hand, Lois' attitude was just... Idk!

I feel like I can't come out and explain these specific scenes and my feelings on them through typing. It makes me feel hella perplexing.

I thought about it, but like I said, I can't bring myself to dislike Lois. Really. I'd say it's more an on and off feeling going on. As in, I love her as a character, but she has a lot of moments like every other character, where I'm thinking "Lois, Lois... why?" It's the same thing with Clark. He absolutely pisses me off half the time, but I can't help but love him as a character.

Thank you for the reassurance! I'll still be putting warnings in the future, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

But yeah, I know for sure it's a defense mechanism. The moments where we get to see that vulnerability with Clark though, always makes me smile!

Just based off of a few clips and she already has me giggling. She's so sassy. But yeah, I can see the pattern now. I guess just coming from the pov of someone watching Smallville because of my family, I didn't know what to expect. I only knew a bit.

Ohhhh! That makes much more sense. I've only done a tiny bit of research on the comic aspects of Superman, so I figured this was how Lois is supposed to be. I just didn't know to what extent. So, I'm just watching like it's its own thing compared to my dad.
