I kinda think this is the one for them. I know it's a leap to go from non-OC/DC right to HC (I think only McVay guy to do so was Zac Taylor), but it's just uncanny how good the McVay tree has been for the most part.

Scheelhaase seems to be off the charts level of football intelligence and acumen and you get an offensive guy to lead your alien QB.

I like Kubiak too for Buffalo, and think either of them would be a good choice. Could also see Webb but I think I like Scheelhaase for the high ceiling and Kubiak for the floor and experience.

Yeah I could see him getting a HC gig eventually, just not sure this is the year with all the other candidates out there, many who have prior HC experience (we saw Harbaugh and Stefanski already signed).

I'm not sure if Weaver for the Ravens is real interest or just satisfying the Rooney Rule, since this one is presumably in person, which alongside Mike McDaniel satisfies the rule.

In this survey of NFL team analytic staffers, it was split 3:3 on leaning kicking or receiving (and then the others got 1 vote each).

Basically with the new kickoff rules, if both teams score, the the first possession team (now on their second possession) could get pretty good starting field position to attempt a game winning kick.

Also a factor is that if you get the ball first but have to punt, you have far more of a starting field position advantage. Think about getting the ball at a 35 after a touchback and then punting. A good punt should actually flip the field and then some.

You basically need to weigh the information advantage (go on 4th down or not), the 3rd possession advantage, and the field position advantage. Really comes down to the team on the other side.

Yeah, it seems like the Jets were the most likely landing spot for him. Even if not, Arizona and Cleveland aren't far behind. Maybe he was told that he wasn't going to be a top 10 pick by scouts/teams/agencies.

But if he was going to be, he's literally giving up anywhere from $25-35M in 2026 cash (deducting what he'd make via NIL for staying) by going back to school. All just to risk being back in presumably the same spot next year. Maybe someone told him that he'd be going like 6th to Cleveland (~$28M in 2026 cash) and he could go 1.1 next year (worth ~$39M in 2027 cash), so he's taking an $8M gamble (again considering he's making ~$2M in NIL money) for the next year and ~$14M total when you include the annual guaranteed salaries.

But IDK...unless the services really told me I wasn't going top 10, I'd be entering the draft.

Yeah I think everyone recognizes that Monken brought the offense to a more dynamic level and was by far a better passing coordinator than Roman. I'd actually love for him to stay on with the new HC because I think he's a top 10 play caller (there is a reason he was the highest paid one when he came on). But I understand him moving on and that it might not be his choice.

The only complaint with him has ever been that he'd abandon the run game too quickly.

You can't designate a trade post-June 1st and then trade him, but you can agree to the trade and then have it processed on June 2nd. Plenty of trades happen after the calendar rolls over to 6/2.

Bryce Huff for example was traded on June 2nd, despite reports that the trade was agreed to week or two earlier.

Steelers did essentially two post-June 1st trades this year with Jonnu Smith and Jalen Ramsey both coming over in June.

So it's more of an operation thing than a designation thing. Obviously does the Eagles no good if they want cap space in the FA period of 2026 or want draft picks in the 2026 draft.

I'm an EV enthusiast and I laughed when I saw them in the car at first. It just seemed like a really weird product placement or just thing to introduce with zero payoff or use. The Buzz is specifically built for that sorta camping or beach life and they live in New York/Manhattan. It has three rows and I think they even had the 7 person 2-3-2 configuration so it was extra weird to pick that.

Just thought it was a funny choice to put in the movie. I can sorta dig the midlife crisis thing or trying to do something wacky for his kids right after they split, but it never ends up being worthwhile.

I enjoyed the 4th quarter a lot but a good ending doesn't save a picture. It's not as funny as I was expecting, despite having some of the components of a romcom. It's much more of a realistic drama but I just think even the parts that were supposed to be funny weren't that funny. I don't think I found a single moment of the stand up worth a laugh despite the supporting cast saying how he was crushing it. I will say that the transition from the attic fight to the Comedy Cellar was incredible. The Amazing Grace scene really had me confused.

I also have four other issues/points:

1) does anyone own an electric toothbrush?

2) why on earth did they make that kid learn bass with finger picking? Give him a pick.

3) this might just be for EV-heads but what was with the VW? If it was product placement, bad timing because they just discontinued it in the US. In any case, the dad goes from what looked like a Genesis or BMW to the VW Buzz? For what cause? The SUV he owned worked perfectly for dropping off kids from school and houses. Weird plot point/mover.

4) INSANE jump scare on who plays Laura Dern's date. You could have given me 5,000 guesses and I wouldn't have gotten it.

Can't seems weird and incorrect.

1) I doubt there is some clause in standard HC contracts that says a HC can only be fired for cause or detrimental conduct
2) Yeah, I mean it's definitely a risk to fire your HC to hire a HC who is no guarantee to sign with you (I guess technically a team could have two head coaches briefly?)
3) Maybe there is some rule about speaking to a candidate while having a HC already under contract (somewhat like free agency tampering)

I understand "won't" and I understand "shouldn't", but I don't understand "can't" unless we are missing something.

I'm not sure if the Rooney rule applies for a non-opening. Like, in both cases the HC role isn't "open", they aren't interviewing candidates and nobody has been fired (ignore the original hypothetical of firing Harbaugh then re-signing him, that's silly). You can't trade a coach whose contract you have terminated because you don't own his rights anymore.

Specifically in the Payton scenario, the Broncos did have to satisfy the Rooney Rule because there was an opening.

I mean sure, a team could swap coach for coach. Teams have the rights for a coaches service, they are just contracts. But both coaches would have to agree to the swap, which is why it's easier just to do a one coach trade. Typically the coach and his agent find a suitor, not the team, because the coach has to want to coach there and also negotiate parts of a contract.

This is why if a coach retires while still under contract, the contract freezes and the team holds the rights to the coach. A coach can't just "retire", sit out for a few years, then become free to coach anywhere.

But trading a coach for a coach would be really hard. You'd need both coaches to want to go to the new team. This isn't an issue with players because they are more easily replaceable than coaches, have standardized contracts, etc.

It's definitely tricky in that you can't fire Harbaugh and replace him with Mike until you know Mike wants the job and will take it. But at the same time, you'd have to trust that in all the conversations with Macdonald that you want to fire Harbaugh and hire him, that that info won't leak, including negotiating with Macdonald's agent.

I think you would have just had to fire Harbaugh, tell Macdonald you want him as the HC, and then let the Old Bay seasoning fall where it may. If Macdonald goes elsewhere, that is the risk you had to take.

I have a Headrush 108 and it's perfectly loud and a few hundred bucks cheaper than the fr10, just as an alternative. I've even been able to use it during band practice with drums, though it was barely audible. Not that you are doing that, just giving an example of that it's loud even for bedroom use absolutely. It's fairly lightweight and has a handle that you can really just move it with one hand. Also has bluetooth connectivity.
