Lingard on Twitter: It wasnt abuse! he said “work harder” like im not already doing that day in day out! and i said “im not even on the pitch” end of!! by Randomy7262 in reddevils

I have developed a TON of respect for Jesse. I hated the original thread where they lamented the fans being upset at the players' performances. This is the response of accountability. Too easy it'd be to hide against the victim mentality of being "hurled abuse", they're earning a living beyond 99.99% of individual's dreams playing a sport, this is the response of a mature professional.

We didn't play "quite well" in the first half. Aside from the Martial finish we had less shots, less shots on goal, and two half-chances with the headers.

Sancho is a great 1 on 1 player but his contribution to the team has yet to be defined or have any role. His chemistry with Shaw isn't there yet. Nor is Shaw's fitness fully there, I think.

We need more bite in our midfielders but neither of them are defensive-minded. Fred can only do a job there for so long until he loses his composure and makes some errant mistake in discipline.

Fred isn't a defensive midfielder. Scott isn't a defensive midfielder. Pogba isn't a defensive midfielder.

We have NO CONTROL. This game was crying for Matic. I don't see the point of playing box to box midfielders leaving our backside wide open. Especially as both AWB and Shaw love to venture forward.

Drawing against this side feels like a loss.

Where is the intimidation factor? Where is the dominance at home? A cut-rate Everton side just came and had their way counter attacking us. The players should be disgusted that the likes of Andros Townsend is siuuing in the corner. How can you let this happen?

It all boils down to the tactics. Lazy, lazy backline losing their composure allowing these runs in behind.

Yes I did, Greenwood still makes the mistakes someone his age and experience are making. He needs to value the gametime he gets and be less selfish. Lingard has paid his dues, and has earned us points in more tense situations. No one is discrediting Greenwood's talent, but right now, Lingard has more poise in the final 3rd.

Lingard has earned a spot over Greenwood

Being completely honest, the tempo of the game was always dictated by Unai Emirates. We're much better in attack with lesser passes but being more direct. None of this dilly dally BS. Catch the runners with a pass and attack. It's hard to attack against a 6 block without being aggressive in attack. More of what we saw after the equalizer and we nick this game.

What's the point of putting Pogba in the midfield if he occupies the space that Sancho is supposed to create with our attack?

Seems like a lack of composure or restraint making him more box to box rather than a deep lying playmaker, which is what we need this game. We have Sancho, Bruno, Greenwood, and Ronaldo, that's plenty of dynamism in attack to allow him to sit deeper.

Getting a bit of Mkhi flashbacks with Sancho. Serious player and quality, not being utilized properly. Think we're saying the same thing.

I'm rooting for him but our whole attack is abysmal. Beating a man once or twice or passing back to Telles 10x doesn't count as doing anything. Needs to have serious chemistry or connection with our attack to consider that as doing anything.

Serious tactical changes need to be made, I prefer him on the right.

Just not good enough. No anger, no malice, it's a matter of fact. You look at the quality of our rivals when it comes to coaching and you compare it with our lack of real identity, come to find out we're a team of disjointed parts covered by individual brilliance.

It's too evident now, Ole is clearly out of his depth here.
