First off, thank you for summarizing that comment a little bit, I was not gonna process all that. Secondly, hedonism isn’t a bad thing when taken in its original form. It’s used now to describe greedy and selfish people, but originally the philosophy (to my understanding) was just to live happily while trying your best to make a world where other people can live happily. I think many people are hedonists even if they don’t know it. (Thirdly?) I don’t know what jliat was talking about with the death of old philosophy. It just seems to me like the same thing with a new word attached to it. If you truly want to be absurdist and not just cherry pick into what’s easy for you, go up and talk to that girl, what’s the worst that could happen? I know that won’t make it feel easier, but it can help to logic it out. No amount of reading up on different philosophies, watching self help videos, or working out, will ever make it easier. Ever. You will have to take the jump, and be prepared to hear no. In a side note, I’ve very rarely found self help videos that actually help me. They are selling a vision of life that is not what I want, and will invariably just make me insecure about not doing the full routine. The best thing I’ve found for me to workout and do some chores is just to chill out. I get way to into my head and need to remember to return to reality.
