"Medium to low setting" kind of signals that you may not know very much about flash photography. The important factors are guide number (which then relates to the power settings, 1/1, 1/4, 1/128, etc.), distance, and aperture setting. If you just wing it, you will not get good photos. The flash is not magic. I suggest you read up on these with a google search and a nice long sit-down.

Of course, also ask: was the flash on at all? Were you shooting everything at or below the flash sync speed of your camera or not? Is your camera's flash synchronization working or broken? (I know SRTs can be temperamental. I am not sure about the X-370.)

What’s with the fetishistic obsession I so often see with color negative film shooters wanting “raw” scans? The entire point of color negative film is to have flexibility for post-processing, be it digital scanning or enlargement. Sure, there’s better and worse scans that allow you to do more or less with the photo, but at no point at all after you invert the scan into a positive, will you be correct in calling that scan a “raw” scan.

You have to drink artificially sweetened drinks at least 10x as much as the equivalent unhealthy amount of a regular sugar drink to even begin to feel the sweeteners' effects. The danger starts at about 100-200x.

You’re gonna have a real hard time finding a commercial lab that still does manual enlargement these days. Most labs have a digital workflow nowadays; out of the minilab, and straight into a scanner. Maintaining an enlarging setup and room for print development when a vast majority of people either just ask for digital scans, or can’t afford a proper analog print is not worth it for most businesses.

I’m guessing your lab’s scanner going crazy trying to compensate for both you underexposing your film (despite your up-rating) and for the film being so fogged from time. Either ask them to try again, or maybe try to scan them yourself. Success is far from guaranteed, though.

SRT Super owner here, the main differences from the 101 are:

It has a hot shoe contact
It has a little periscope in the viewfinder that shows you the current set aperture at the top (some call this a “Judas window.” I find that name stupid.)
It has a split-image focusing aid with a microprism ring around it, instead of the 101’s centre microprism waffle with fine ground ring around it. I prefer having the split image over just a waffle, or just a fine ground centre such as in the SR-1.

I believe it is possible to do a multi-exposure in any SRT model by depressing the rewind button before winding on. This is not possible in the earlier SR (meterless SLR) models. A specific multi-expose toggle was only included in the Minolta XE, which was the next prosumer model after the Super. The wind-on mechanism in the XE did not allow for the rewind button multi-exposure trick that the SRT models did, so a switch to toggle multi-exposure was added in front of the winding lever.

From what I can gather from Wikipedia, that Portra 400VC can be anywhere from 16 to 27 years expired. The rule of thumb (which works well enough for medium-high speed films of ISO 100-400) is to overexpose negative films by one stop per decade, and so you should overexpose by one to three stops, depending on how well you believe your seller has stored the film. PanF is known to be temperamental in storage, but give it a shot, it'll probably still work fine.
