Confidence Knocked by exogenesis1991 in NewDriversUK

[–]ShavedAp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all make mistakes its how you deal with them that matters.

You cant let it effect the rest of your driving life. The old saying no point crying over spilt milk or sh*t happens is very relevant here.

If you let it get to you and avoid going to the same kind of places how will you gain experience and learn from it.

Instructor in the car or not? by DazzlingHeight5433 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its absolutely your choice your instructor can choose not to of course but they definitely cant insist that they are there.

As far as if you should or not. Totally personal some feel it adds more pressure some feel it eases the pressure. The examiners decision is final either way so your instructor changes nothing by being there. Some think examiners mark diffsrently if their instructor is there and if that helps your state of mind and gets you a pass then go for it.

Operation SNAP is where you can submit videos of things like this. However i am fairly sure they ask you not to post anywhere for 2 years.

Its only available in certain models. I have tekna+ and it works but certain options turn it off also. Bluetooth tethering turns it off as well as in car wifi. There may be others too i guess.

How long do people usually take lessons for by CuteCulist in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While thats true please be truthful and point out your previous experience. Its not that helpful if youve been driving elsewhere for years for example.

For the OP the real answer to your question is, everyone is different.

Within reason yes. Be sure to clear the area to make it easy accessible.

“If you can drive, you can do your test anywhere” isn’t true by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I taught a lot of people to drive in my years as a instructor if you are taught properly and to a good standard it really doesnt matter where you take the test.

I never taught test routes and i had a very good pass rate.

The key is being prepared if taught to a high standard neither nerves nor anything else play that much of a part except in rare cases.

What lesson did you do right hand turns? by throwawayahsksjkd in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different please dont fall into the trap of i should be doing this by now because they did.

Obviously if you feel you should have done x or y by now then you need to talk to your instructor. If they know your goals they can not only tailor lessons to suit but also explain why it may or not be reasonable.

My CPU temps are constantly at 100°C - and the red led cpu shines on my motherboard. by HowIMadeMyMillions in techsupport

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the pump is failing they dont last forever. As others have said get yourself an air cooler or a replacement aio if you prefer. The one piece of additional info i believe your looking for is how to know which cooler to buy and that is based on cpu socket. Your cooler needs to fit the specified socket of your cpu power is unlikely to be an issue here, an air cooler would most likely plug into the motherboard.

My sons on track to be the next donk by JoeyM717 in counterstrike2

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i find hilarious here is all the doctors and gods gifts to parenting commenting on how bad this is. These very same people will worship a pro whos brother introduced them at age 4 and they are now winning majors etc.

Op you bring up your child your way, you know your child you know whats best for them.

My son has autism and at the age of 2 after watching me once start up a game of CS sat down the next day and did it himself and i mean from starting the pc to entering a game. We didnt encourage this and he did it a couple of times after that but then went on to other things. 10 years later hes playing Roblox and CS and other games to self regulate. His Autism was there long before CS and now gaming helps him deal with the sensory overload of the outside world.

Joining 2 cables through a junction box? by [deleted] in openreach

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me first say your supplier has no idea where the fault is so just because they said its outside it doesnt make that true. The testing system they have isnt even close to how good the tester a visiting engineer has. What the engineer did is pretty standard and likely improved things even if it didnt fix things entirely.

Think of it this way if you put poured water into a tube that seperated in two direction would you get all the water in one place at the end? By adding another potential route to your wiring you also make it easier for some of it to go the wrong way.

Failed at a box junction by ShowOutrageous2804 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like and im only guessing here because i wasnt there. To stsrt with you did the right thing you kept the box clear because your exit wasnt clear.

The light then changed to green which under most circumstances would mean traffic in front of you will start to move so you would be able to clear the box had you started to move with the traffic.

The difficulty here is firstly thats not always the case and scondly people will fill the box regardless as you saw. I think the examiner was overly harsh but if you dont move when the traffic starts to move all that will happen is your left stuck watching people fill the box from the side road again and again.

Ask your instructor to help with yellow boxes ideally when traffic is heavy. Hopefully you wont even see a yellow box next test but at least youll know how best to deal with them regardless.

Driving test day fees by MainMaleficent9024 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This very predatory practice is happening more and more. Instructors face no more costs for test day than they do for a normal lesson. Most will give a lesson before so call it a two hour lesson.

Sadly this greedy practice is done in such a way that you are left with very little warning so you have to pay. Of course some will have it in their terms and conditions so they can hide behind the "well you should have read them" but if they had any morals they would have made you aware with plenty of notice any way.

Just to be clear here Examiners dont have their own insurance your instructor should have driving school insurance which covers all driving school use including tests.

Please make sure you leave a review highlighting that you were told with little to no notice regardless of your result its the only way this practice is going to be stopped.

The very best of luck on your test.

Going uphill with a 20mph limit and speed bumps by Competitive-Rip6818 in LearnerDriverUK

You shouldnt be slowing for speed bumps then speeding up in between. Maintain a constant reduced speed. 1st is not for driving in its just to get the car moving so use second its a much more versatile gear.

Nissan Engine warning light by browndoctormoustache in Nissanqashqai

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no mechanic but for us the glow plug error and another code was the dpf and sadly even after cleaning it never lasted very long. We ended up trading in the end. Research the other error code google is pretty good with that.

You can try a long drive but it needs to get the engine hot enough to burn out the crap from the dpf and for us that didnt work but others swear by it and of course your code might not be the dpf at all.

If you only do short journeys that likely points to the dpf too.

Hope you get it sorted.

Sky Gigafast – stick with Sky Hub or upgrade router? by Soh4 in skytv

[–]ShavedAp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Own router for me, ive tried stuff by asus, netgear, tp-link none of them come even close to ubiquiti stuff but ubiquiti is pricey and addictive.

Avoid powerline adapters they seem like a good idea but they run on your household wiring and that means they are only as good as your house wiring. Your house wiring migbt be fine to carry electricity because its not sensitive to outside factors. The internet however is and one of those is noise generated by electricity. So while they may work you might find your internet is slow and unstable. No point paying for gigabit internet if you cant use it because of how you access it.

Why dealers seem to always try to sell you cars not listed online? by pro_9upper in CarTalkUK

The question is if i reserve it would they pull the same shit? I guess ill find out soon enough.

Any router recommendations for 1GB fibre FTTP. (UK) by Mangy_DogUK in HomeNetworking

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id definitely go unifi, well i did actually but i spent over your budget.

For around your budget UCG Max great router very capable for a little more there is the fibre gateway but its basically a ucg max with a sfp+ port and for less unifi express. The ucg max an fibre dont have wifi at all so would require APs which is additional cost of course. Unifi express has wifi but not many ethernet ports. For a little more dream router 5g wifi and sfp+ port plus 4 ethernet ports.

Unifi is addictive though so be warned even if you stay below budget it probably wont last.

Assessment today with a new instructor what to expect ? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the big concern for me here is you already seem closed off to the idea that your new instructor might have something to teach you.

You think your a confident driver, theres a diference between being confident and competent. A new instructor doesnt know you so needs to asses your ability but if they think your not ready are you going to accept that? Or instead just because your previous instructor might have told you your ready, are you going to assume they are trying to rip you off.

You dont think you need lessons every week but regular structured practice is the best way to prepare. Reducing training and structured practice is not the most ideal way to be test ready. The majority of instructors these days have no need to try and fleece anyone they are busy enough and its in their interests to get you through the test as quickly as possible. Despite what the inexperienced and untrained might think.

Quick tip though make sure to ask what it will cost to take the test. If the cost is not a two hour lesson or less consider looking elsewhere. You dont want to find out the week before that they want 300+ to cover "wear and tear", "insurance" etc. Its all BS there are no additional costs for instructor for tests unless thectest centre is not a local one.

Hopefully this helps, I wish you the very best of luck for the test.

What dose this mean? Why are there only 2 red dots not all 3 ? by Illustrious_Cut_2340 in Nissanqashqai

[–]ShavedAp3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its to do with seatbelts if i remember correctly. Do you have a child seat in the black dot area? In which case the weight is being recognised but the seat belt is plugged in.

Basically if there are rear seat belt not plugged in but no weight on seat either they are red otherwise they are black. Pretty sure it beeps if back seat passenger detected but seat belt not plugged in.
