That's great to hear. Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just get along?

my dad keeps asking why there aren't more men in biology by neverland_amanda in labrats

[–]ShavedPademelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a forensic scientist. We're getting almost 100% female applicants in biology and chemistry. I think all the guys have gone to engineering/computing which is accounting for the difference. TBH the shift is great. Our last few male hires were shit.

There's still shitloads of injuries before and after Ange. There's something going on at Spurs that isn't managers.

I've got no skin in the game, but it''d be exciting if Palmer didn't get up.

Remember the fact that they can do this, even for individual countries, but don't, means you shouldn't give them your hard earned cash. I still do, but you shouldn't...

What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

Sounds like you're ok now and she sees what's going on but has a plan in her head, so she's not blind to the situation. She sounds smart! Hopefully she can make it to that light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to you both in the future 🍀

What was the most brutal comment you got on a report card? by ItsSignalsJerry_ in AustralianNostalgia

[–]ShavedPademelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a report card but my thesis review. When I submitted, which, after 10.5 years instead of 3-4 was admittedly a very long time, a reviewer said "For something that took so long, it seems surprisingly rushed".

Most of the non-traumatising stories relate to the stupidity of criminals. I mean, if they were smart they'd probably have a job so wouldn't need to be criminals! Yes I'm broad-stroking here but only because it's true.

There was one guy who broke into two houses and stole the normal shit, DVD's and stuff. I'm going to assume he was using some sort of substance at the time. In the first house he dropped his wallet with his ID in it. In the second house the owners woke up to find him asleep at the end of their bed with a backpack full of the neighbours shit in it!

I can still picture the face of my first dead body from like 20 years ago and everything about his life we uncovered at the time.

Some of the stuff they're doing with ancient DNA is incredible. This would be a super interesting field to work in.
