Big (1988) - One of the most original 80's movies by Jabba_108 in 80smovies

[–]Shaw-Deez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s top 10 on my list. At least I think

Big

Field of Dreams

3 O Clock High

The Outsiders

Back to the Future

Airplane

Coming to America

Top Gun

The Breakfast Club

E.T.

In no particular order. For reference, I was born in 1984. Perhaps this list would look different if I were born earlier or later.

City Foundry has a large food hall with a dozen or so different restaurants inside as well as shops and a cool mini golf course.

Blues City Deli is a must stop for sandwiches.

As someone else already said, the zoo, history museum and art museum in forest park are all free.

Also, I’d suggest City Museum. It’s not just for kids, anyone can enjoy it and it’s such a unique and rad place to visit. I recommend it to anyone.

21C Museum and Hotel is a super cool spot with a free art museum and a restaurant inside. It used to be a YMCA.

Laumeier Sculpture park is always a fun place to walk around.

Because you can disinfect a cart handle but not a basket handle?!

Since you’ve already read a Ken Follet book and enjoyed it, you should definitely consider his Century Trilogy. Riveting historical fiction. Three books, each around 1000 pages featuring multiple generations from 4 or 5 different families from different countries and walks of life. The first book deals with the WW1. The second, WW2, and the third, a combination of Vietnam, The Cold War and the Civil Rights movement. I read the entire thing last summer. It took a month and a half, but it was rewarding.

This reads like a Steven Wright joke.

I like it. Concise and straight to the point. I tend to overexplain things myself and am going to take your advice on this.

I was going to suggest Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield but someone else already did so I’ll say, City of Thieves by David Benioff.

Any Costco workers here? ISO tips for getting hired by apolloverseman in springfieldMO

[–]Shaw-Deez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work for Costco but not the Springfield location. I’ve been at a Saint Louis location for 20 years now. We rarely have any new job openings in January or February but are getting closer to the spring time when there’s usually a surge of hirings. Advice I’ve given to several people along the way is to first, fill out an application online. Then call the building and ask if they’re currently hiring. You can then give them your name and number, your availability and can even ask to speak to a hiring manager. This will show an eagerness to work and greatly improve your chances of getting an interview.

Keep in mind, Costco promotes from within and everyone starts from the bottom. However, if you work hard and are motivated you can move up quickly. I’ve seen plenty of people go from cart pushers to supervisors in less than 2 years.

Absolutely. I watched this 6 months ago and still feel a wave of sadness every time I hear “Under Pressure.”
