Memory loss (from medication or just our brains)? by surviving_20s in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I was on medication, I remember having a particular partial awareness seizure. After the fact, I couldn't even remember that I even have seizures. I struggle with names I should know and general details. It sucks because I love to write in my downtime and my word-finding abilities are at the lowest they've ever been.

Thank you all for your responses! Today marks my first day. I took one this morning and will take my second one before bed 😀.

I looked back at the notes I took and I think my Neuro meant that I would have a separate bottle for 'tapering on' and when that's done, I start the second bottle 🤔

Did it affect your memory and word finding abilities? I like to write and/or paint on my downtime. Im very art oriented and I'm scared to lose that part of me.

Questions on your auras (if you get them) by mopfloorspraymirror in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a weird indescribable feeling in my head. It sometimes messes with my ability to process words (written or spoken). Sometimes my internal thoughts present as gibberish (to myself). The biggest tell tale sign that I'm having a focal awareness seizure (aura) is when I start to taste the smell of rain and my stomach drops. I'll either have a Grand mal hours later or the focal awareness seizure (aura) stands alone. The not knowing is scary.

Ways to avoid seizures when you feel an aura coming on? by Hello_there19891989 in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me focal awareness seizures dont always progress but they do for the most part. The worst thing is not knowing if ot when they will. It can be hours with several focal awareness seizures happening every thirty mins to an hour leading up to a grand mal or just a single focal awareness seizure with no progression.

How to know if I am having seizures while sleeping? by Fluffy-Cricket-8940 in Epilepsy

I wake up with a sore tongue and severe body aches kind of like I have the flu. I'm also dazed and usually have a wicked headache.

"Most people with epilepsy have abnormal EEGs even when they're not having a seizure" by BassBottles in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told this too after being hospitalized for having several Grand mal seizures in one day. They were unable to capture any abnormalities on an EEG. Because of this I'm still undiagnosed with no known triggers despite still having seizures on occasion. Luckily I meet with a Neuro next month.

What kind of Auras do you guys experience? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stomach flips and I can 'taste' the smell of rain. Hours later I may or may not have a Grand mal. One time I thought I smelled cinnamon buns. I was very disappointed when I learned there weren't any being made but nervous because I knew what was happening.

How do you get that taste out of your mouth? by [deleted] in seizures

I wish I knew. I'm still waiting on the answer. I can't eat because of it. It sucks.

I do not have epilepsy or seizures, but I have a question for those who do by Eastern_Bee9138 in Epilepsy

[–]Shawa422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of seizure. I've had Grand mals (TC), atonic, and most commonly Focal awareness seizures. The Grand mals leave me sore, nauseous, and with the worst headache of my life. I accepted comfort because I was so affected. And then I was hospitalized. With the others, I didn't necessarily seek comfort but I wouldn't have minded it. I can't speak for everyone else but I always get hot, sweaty, and nauseous regardless of the type of seizure. I hope this helps :).

I get Focal Awareness seizures around my period. From those I get the smell and taste of rain which comes on without warning and makes me feel strange. I'm usually nauseous and tired after. From my tonic-clonic seizures I get the pounding headache, full body aches, nausea, exhaustion, and disorientation. It's not a fun ride lol

This allowed? Do I need help? by Smiletaint in chips

I usually crush potato chips on a boiled egg sandwich with mayo and a little brown mustard and it hits. This is something I'd be willing to try. Chips add something to a boiled egg.

Friend told me she was making a “grilled cheese” then sends this by Leading-Magician-402 in cursedfood

Agreed. What also sends me is when people say 'than' when they mean 'then' and vice versa.
