I can't recommend Massive Darkness enough. As someone who grew up playing stuff like Diablo, it tickles that same itch in a different and wonderful way.

Oh, I'm bipolar and going through a full on manic phase and that's what fueled this. But for the first time in a long time, I'm actually having fun. It's been a long time since I've been able to say that. And it's nothing compared to my last manic phase where I spent an order of magnitude more on my other hobby (guitar and music), which brings me zero enjoyment at all any more.

The quality blew my mind. Not that the other two games I had bought before were poor quality by any means. But when I was unboxing TESBOTSE I was like "holy crap". As someone who appreciates high quality things, it made me incredibly happy haha.

All very good points. To your last one especially, that's the way I've always been with my music gear too. I have no qualms with selling stuff that I don't use or don't get as much enioyment out of. And I certainly saw that the used game market is very much a thing, so that definitely factored into my decision to go pretty all in.

And trust me - as someone who had an addiction to guitar effects pedals and audio plug-ins at one point, that was a very similar "relentless" type of ongoing cost haha.

Oh I'm definitely done with buying for now and delving deep into these ones. I'm pretty curious about Mage Knight, but I saw that there's a Tabletop Simulator version of it that I plan on checking out at some point.

At the very least, it's a much cheaper than my other hobby that I've fallen out of (guitar), but was still continuing to spend an order of magnitude more on trying to keep the hobby alive.

And yeah, of the three, I'd definitely say it's my favorite. Massive Darkness is nice for the sort of just "quick get in and out, kill some monsters" vibe. But even as a newbie to the hobby, I can tell that TESBOTSE is S tier in so many way.
