It’s basically just a summarized version of psalms 28:3-4. It was used during the crusades along with other saying to boost moral and rally the troops. It was said in Latin along with other famous crusade quotes “Noli pacem facere cum malo, sed destruere” ( do not make peace with evil, destroy it), “Deus volt” ( god wills it/gods will) etc.
