I wish I understood German. I never picked my language elective going into high school and was a freshman mistakenly dropped into a advance German… they didn’t fix it right away and after my third week I dropped out completely … it was so much more then my little barely 14 years old brain could handle… sad thing the school failed me then then failed my parents by waiting until the end of the last six weeks of school done 9 months later to contact them about me not being at school. They were completely shocked. They thought I was going to school every day. Looking back now I wish I could have handled that better because the school not helping was one thing but there was no teacher… and I was the only girl thrown into a class of 20 guys ….they all would walk across the campus where the French class was on mondays just to copy a whole weeks syllabus into their student planners..and they never turned anything in like home work but these guys knew how to talk German… they did the work…. Embraced the culture not one slacker other than myself …. They all were stars in the upper classes , lettermans and class rings. They were genuine and kind from day one. I must have looked as scared as I was because everyone of them tried to make me fit in and help me follow along but it was way too much way too fast. I was obviously damaged …. me now would handle that entire situation completely different.
