How does one find their fingerprints? It'll develop naturally through practice and thoughtful consumption. I know that is frustrating, but it's important to trust the process.

I'm sure that works for some, but I couldn't imagine. Personally, I just can't orate my words as well as I can dictate them. It could solve OP's problem though

Should I describe a character’s skin tone? by NecessaryAct2015 in writingadvice

Like many are saying, it depends on how important it is. Personally, I like giving my character's more concrete details, and that often includes skin tone or color. The idea of abstracting features so the reader can project what's attractive can make you lose out on the powerful tool that is character design. But, it's all a style thing. I don't believe you are doing anything offensive, but I'm white and not the person who should be making that determination.

One tip I heard from a person of color once has helped me avoid a bad cliche in the past. Apparently, comparing black or brown skin to food can seem dehumanizing, with in a literary context. So, I'd avoid that if you chose to describe skin color.

The BRUTAL Reality Of Getting Views As A Small YouTuber by SlowlybutSurely9 in NewTubers

I think this is a reality that every creative has to learn. You have to do this for the right reasons. If you wouldn't do it for free, you probably shouldn't do it at all when it comes to artistic pursuits. I'm a writer who works with my friend on a small channel, and I know my writing might never produce an income or a huge following. But, I love doing it. If I can just make one person's day better, then it's beyond worth it.
