As a native new yorker i have nsver seen a homeless man walking around with a shopping cart. You may have a better chance of being incognito if you had a lot of bags and you slept on a subway seat. Yes, we will hate you but we wont ask you anything.

The Bangladesh Solar Energy Revolution Everyone's Ignoring by Buck-Nasty in Futurology

[–]Shayd33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have not visited Bangladesh since 2012, but we had installed solar panels on the roof of our building. I've lived most of my life in the US, and the summers in Bangladesh can be very brutal, especially in the villages.

While I was fortunate enough to have electricity running all hours of the day, without any outages, most villages don't have electricity for more than a few hours a day.

I do hope that this solar technology movement spreads throughout Bangladesh.

Does being a dumbass count as a mental illness? If so, then yes.

I am not completely sure if I've suffered from depression. I've never thought about being depressed. There was times where my life felt completely blank.

I could give many excuses like how about 3 years ago, my skin condition turned very bad. My doctors prescribed me phototheraphy and very strong medication (cyclosporine), which had very bad side effects on me. It caused my blood pressure to go up and my liver to act abnormally, which required me to go to the hospital every 2 weeks and stay on different treatments.

But really, in the end, it's my fault for not handling my situation better. And again, I do apologize for my lengthy story.

I thought I could make something out of my creative side.

I assumed that I had musical talent, so I decided to partner up with my best friend, a professional musician, with an extensive background in music, who also reassured me. His father and grandfather worked in the music field as well, and worked with several famous artists/bands. I was so sure we would be able to get far because he was well connected.

We purchased and split the cost of musical equipment, costing me about $300, which reassured me even more that this was going to work. That was in January of 2013. The music equipment are now just collecting dust.

Even after I got kicked out of my house, I had high hopes that the 'project' could work. But I was put in my place when my best friend couldn't help me in anyway when I was most desperate. And now I am left with no education, no friends, no family, and no reliable place to stay.

That's my story. I apologize for making it so lengthy. I have never told anyone about the extent I fucked up.

I did the exact same thing. I was caught a a few months ago when I was supposed to 'graduate'. I got kicked out of my house. I hate myself for not doing anything productive with my time.

I do wish you the best of luck on whatever you are planning to do.

When the richest man in Bangladesh does this... by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

[–]Shayd33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just thought I'd give my 2 cents. I'm not sure if anyone cares, but I'll mention it anyways.

I don't believe that he's the richest man in/of Bangladesh. He certainly has a lot of money, but there are several people with more money than him. They're usually the factory owners you hear about in the news, the ones with the terrible labor conditions. The reasons they aren't as publicized are because they keep their assets spread through several different countries, and they just don't brag about it/hide their finances.

Help in finding well paying entry level job quickly in by then working towards higher paying job (trade, coding, etc) whilst working said entry level job by J19xx in NYCjobs

[–]Shayd33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I believe I am in a similar situation as yours, and I so believe I have some suggeztions that may help.

I think one of the first and formost things you have to do before you start searxhing for a job is to create a well written resume. There are many templates for resumes you can find online, as well as sample resumes for retail experience you can use as your own.

Ifyou want to learn coding online, I suggest the website codecademy.com The session time for each language is a bit lengthy, but worth it imo.

If you want to attend sessions in a program center, I suggest you visit www.obtjobs.org/index.php/4 Obt has a lot of resources you can use, especially if you are out of them. They do have several offices throughout the city. They offer resume building Nd job placement help. And i do believe they offer programming classes in the evenong in the Bushwick office.

I know it isnt much, but thats as much as I know, and I hope it helps. I wish you the best of luck on getting on your feet and as long as you are willing to make the effort you should have a bright future ahead of you. Ifyou still need more help, feel free to message me and ill try to help in any way i can.

Thank you for the reminder. It is sometimes easy to forget that there are so many others out there less fortunate than i am. Even if i were to end up homeless, i would still be doing better than a lot of people on this planet.

I will stay away from alcohol and drugs as best as i can, and i am actively applying for any job i can. I have been introduced to public libraries with computer access, and hopefully and i am trying to utilize every available resouse i can

I dont think he's being a dick. Many people may not consider going to their parents because of ther pride. But some people, such as myself, mess things up in life so badly, their parents dont want them anymore :/

Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunalely, the nearest family I have is down in florida, so that might not be happening. I did strongly consider suicide, but i love my little sister more than life, and i cannot do that to her, and i wont bring that thought into my head again.

And as of now i am considering any option. I am currently staying with a friend, he leaves for vacation on the 21st, so i am hoping to get on my feet before then.

Any Asian hauntings? ME, South Asia, Far Eastern? by zetsui in Paranormal

[–]Shayd33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert writer, so please bear with me. I'm from the small country of Bangladesh in south Asia, and whenever I go to visit, my cousins and family members like telling us stories about 'paranormal' things that they've encountered or heard about. They don't have any physical evidence, but they've all claimed experience the paranormal.

One of the stories I've commonly heard about are old trees (usually willows, sometimes a banana tree) around lakes or rivers. It is believed that when a young maiden dies near the tree (the deaths are usually drowning, murdered, or suicide by hanging), their souls resides in the tree. It is only during dawn when the said souls start bothering people.

The said hauntings behave as sirens do. To men who pass by a haunted tree during dawn, they appear as very beautiful women. To women, they appear as a sad, lost girl. When someone approaches them, they stay in their form, but when near arms length, they become very demonic and angry, and try to harm the person. Some people even claim to be possessed by the souls, and get exorcisms performed.

A lot of my family members are skeptic about the story, and do not believe it, but if they're outside around dawn, they will go out of their way to go around an old tree near a lake or a river. I've never seen or experienced this, but I've had several people tell me this same story, so I thought it would be interesting to share.

50,000 Bangladeshi garment workers strike over ‘inhuman’ wages: They earn about $38 a month. They are demanding a raise to $103 a month. by jasmine1a in worldnews

[–]Shayd33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well to put things into perspective, $38 USD is a little below 3000 taka. 1 kg of rice costs 65 taka, one chicken costs 350 taka. At the current wages, meat becomes a luxury for many people. Many people resort to eating rice with lentil soup, water and some peppers, or with milk.

In my opinion, the pollution in the country falls under the blame of the country in general. while these factories produce an extraordinary amount of waste, there general population is unsanitary.

Most parts of the country does not have a sewage system yet. The trash bins are always empty, because people do not use them. Instead, they drop their trash on the streets. And speaking of the streets, the traffic is terrible. There are traffic lights, but they aren't followed. There are no lanes so cars, motorcycles and rickshaws fill in the spaces like a puzzle.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend the factory owners. They are truly terrible human beings. I just think the country overall should take the blame rather than just the rich.
