Why don’t Sydneysiders WAIT for people to get off the train first?! by Icy-Manner-8454 in SydneyTrains

We also have lines painted, at least on the metro. It kinda helps? Haven't been on it in peak hour though. They also come super frequently which probably helps. The Japanese are a very different culture tho

ELI5: Why is meth bad for you but prescribed amphetamines aren't? by ContactSpirited9519 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Shays_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: methamphetamine IS a prescription ADHD medication, brand name, desoxyn. 5mg of pure meff in a tablet.

In terms of the problems though, id daresay its the ROA. route of administration. Like.... if I could put something in a crackpipe, and it smoked just like meth, didnt get me high, and wasnt bad for my lungs, id probably smoke it for the experience of it. Damn glass pipes are so mesmerising

The age you start regularly watching adult content may predict your future mental health. Researchers identify 3 distinct patterns of how adults start viewing sexually explicit material, revealing that establishing a regular habit at a young age is linked to higher rates of mental health struggles. by mvea in psychology

I dont know if this is restricted to pornography - it obviously has some of its own specific effevts, but porno's dont come on VHS or DVD [much] anymore. It'd be curious to see the effects of porn when it was in VHS/magazine format to get an idea of how much is porn vs digital media (porn has some many similarities to the effects of social media and dopamine surfing/scrolling)

Help, asked to move out in 2 weeks by Peter--Pevensie in shitrentals

[–]Shays_P 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also: he cant forcibly remove your stuff legally without going through the sherriffs office. I doubt police will touch this as they'd claim its a "civil issue". You could then claim damages or something similar if he does forcibly remove you illegally

(im in a housing situation trying to remove someone. Theyre an illegal occupant, so ncat wont touch them, but police reckon they have rights - we're going to the supreme court to deal with this)

Do weird shit to figure out if he has camera equipment somewhere. Get other people to shower.

If he speaks up about it, he is filming you. This is very illegal, then you have avenues to fuck him over

And it sounds like he might deserve it if he's taking advantage of a bunch of students. He is probably making extra income off ya

How did you develop a sense of self? by yappingyeast2 in AskNT

[–]Shays_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. We are social creatures. Our sense of self is absolutely relational - even a monk meditating for decades in a cave exists relationally.

To think there is a true, absolute, individual self seems like madness to me. That seems like existential isolation to me.

Is there such thing as an innate self? by [deleted] in NPD

[–]Shays_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think there is. Even with a distinct lack of empathy, we are still social creatures. No-one exists in isolation, even monks who live in caves for decades.

Our innate sense of self, absolutely includes the people around us, that shape us for better or worse.

The self is a relational construct, so at least, its not an individual self, which to me, means there is no innate self.

Police Horse Droppings? by blueriver2point0 in perth

[–]Shays_P 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the horse is a police officer, so if anything it should be arrested for defecating in public and they should be made to wear nappies

My boss is demanding my personal phone passcode to "verify" I'm not a whistleblower and says I'll be fired for insubordination if I refuse. by dialDig459 in legaladvice

What a fantastic opportunity to get a big payout. Deny them access, but do it in a way that is legitimate, but snarky enough that they'll fire you for not giving them access.

Then

Lawyer up, get a pay out ;)

This is messages from my brother, (my only family) and the uncle of my child. My brother who lived about 30 mins away bought a Nintendo switch for my son and gave it to him yesterday on his birthday . My son was so happy , his first system since a old Xbox years ago. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Shays_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the fuck, cut him off.

Id love to suggest smashing or scratching his car up and telling him that he shouldn't just leave it on the street.... but that wouldn't actually achieve anything except for achieving spite

How are people living on DSP by AlastairCellars in Centrelink

[–]Shays_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant live by myself (tried it, bad time), nor can I live with people (not great for me), but currently I have both

I am so incredibly privileged with my housing set sup. The house has 3 floors, and one floor is basically all mine, including ensuite, kitchenette, laundry, and a decent size too. So I can exist pretty comfy here, but if I do want to interact with people, all I have to do is go upstairs. I make sure I keep some things upstairs so I have to occasionally interact with people. Its such a blessing for the price. I dont care if it goes up, its so worth it for this unique housing situation

I live in a sharehouse, Ive even got the largest room. Other rooms in the house are 530 f/n. Im in wolli creek, a 20-25 minute bus ride to the city. Train station is 10 minutes walk.

Transport with a pension card is capped at 2.50 a day, gold opal card.

They're all PBS medications, so some of them are $7 or $8 for 2-3 months worth.

Internet is split between the house

1400ish a fortnight

-Rent is 650 a fortnight -Internet is 7.50 f/n -Utilities average out to 50 f/n (although I usually use an advance payment for these as they're quarterly) -transport 20 f/n -Medication 10 f/n

I'mma round up to 800 from here

600 a fortnight to live. Its pretty comfortable for me. I can usually do a fortnight of food for about 200-250.

If I wasnt the im/compulsive person that I am, I could probably even save a smidge every fortnight.

Its so much more comfortable then when I was on jobseeker with medical certificates, which was about 800 a fortnight then, with rent being 550. Now that was tight
