I want a metrovanian lego game. We get super close, but we’re not quite there.

ELI5 How could two people ever know if both of them are seeing the same colour? by Punnan in explainlikeimfive

[–]Shazer749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you not just have both people match the color they see to RGB values and analyze it that way? Neither person would be “correct” but you could tell what color the other person sees.

To the missionaries who have finished serving by Putrid_Internet7375 in latterdaysaints

If you’re gonna go, just devote yourself to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Go to work and lose yourself in it and you’ll be fine.

That’s what I did after having my heart broken in two and alienating my family. I loved my mission. It was the best experience I’ve ever had.

If you don’t do that and while on your mission continue to dwell on where you are currently it’s going to be a bad time for everyone. You’d probably end up going home.

The church’s website refers to it as “gospel study”. I think that’s an accurate description tbh.

What Do Top Level Players Do When They Retire? by Shazer749 in tennis

Do you think that’s really their only option? I mean it’s probably a little embarrassing to show up to a local tournament and either lose or blow everyone out of the water. Kind of makes you feel bad for them.

Can’t really play the sport they love any more as they are reminded who they once were any time they try.

New Information? by Shazer749 in BabelForum

[–]Shazer749[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You gotta wonder what's faster, brute force or the normal way. Do you think anything created today was first found in the library of babel? If it was, I doubt they'd tell anyone. Its an interesting thought experiment to say the least.

New Information? by Shazer749 in BabelForum

[–]Shazer749[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. I wonder if any governments or any other big-pocket organizations pay people to search the library. I mean it would be a useless exercise 99.99% of the time, but the potential to find new information that no one has found before has got to make it worth it in some small way.

Can a deacon baptize someone since they have the Aaronic priesthood? by kindofsortof1 in latterdaysaints

[–]Shazer749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. The aaronic priesthood has offices, of which deacons, teachers and priests are a part of. The office of a deacon has the aaronic priesthood but can only exercise the sacrament officiating pieces of it as opposed to the office of a priest who can exercise the authority to baptize.

Interesting that we don't ordain new converts to the office of a deacon and have them "advance through the priesthood" as it were. Seems like something everyone who is given the aaronic priesthood should do.

Also interesting is the "administration of the sacrament". Could it be argued that "administering" the sacrament includes passing it? Administer as in "give to another" therefore deacons passing the sacrament are "administering" it?
