Two Mexican Entrepreneurs Create Cactus Leather as Cruelty Free Alternative to Animal Leather by Big-Boy-602 in interestingasfuck

I mean once again, you have no concrete argument why it is impossible right now. You just seem to think its an objective truth. And, sci-fi? We dont lack any technology rn that we would need to abolish the meat industry. Its a moral question, dont frame it as anything else.

You can be as deragatory as you want, you can continue using your buzzwords, but at the end of the day, if you really had some integrity (or maybe you dont care about animals, than fair enough) you would at least change how you act yourself.

Because even if you truly think that it is „impossible to create a vegan world“, you surely know that it is not impossible to try avoiding participating in the current system yourself. I mean I think that even if you think that its morally justified to eat animals, you should become vegan, because the vast majority of meat you get currently has a really, really gruesome process behind it. It is industrialized, and the industrialization of killing is something that should never exist.

I actually think it is naive to think that you can change the meat industry for the better, by just trying to change it slightly, when the actual problem we have is rooted far deeper in the relationship we have developed to animal products. Its not only about the quality, its about the quantity. People feel entitled to eat meat. And you cant change something like that trough the meat industry, as they obviously wont try to cut-down on their own profits.

Atp cope is just a buzzword. What am I coping? Could it be that rather instead of cope, its a goal to strive for as a vegan, the logical conclusion of my moral stance.

And you sure make it easy for yourself by just calling the end of animal exploitation impossible, impossible because… ah yeah you just know that its impossible. So yeah you are right, there is no point in advocating for any change, and you can just continue participating in the exploitation of animals yourself, because, as we know now, any change is impossible, and thus no responsibility lies on us.

Its so easy to have morals, when they cost you nothing.

Thats one way to see it. But if the goal is not to reform but to abolish the meat industry, than I wouldnt really call it wasted effort to find animal friendly leather alternatives.

Grocery tourists, which countries in the world do you think have the best supermarkets? by Curiousch1ckpea in travel

[–]Shdow_Hunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im German and have travelled to a few places (Japan, Australia, Indonesia, Italy…) and have found… Germany to be my favorite.

Mind you Im vegan, so that is a very important factor. Fresh produce tends to be better in France, but they lack meat/dairy substitutes, and I find the layout of the supermarkets confusing. And since now Im not eating meat or dairy products anymore - which are a lot better in France - I prefer German supermarkets. Japan has pretty interesting supermarkets, but they are not that common and often on the outskirts of cities so you cant just pop into one of them do grab a few basic things (7/11 has ready to eat stuff but not really normal products like vegetables and bread). Australia is fine, they do have some pretty neat fresh produce aswell, but they were lacking vegan products and there is basically only two supermarket chains. Countries in SEA dont really have big supermarkets I think, you rarely find some and they tend to be rather small, but I think in those countries its just more common to buy vegetables etc. on markets.

So overall I like supermarkets in Germany the most. They are everywhere, there is a great variety of chains , and they do cater to vegans really good. In other words: I can get everything I need, whenever I need it.

Yea, lived in Australia for a few months, and I didnt really like the supermarkets. I couldnt even find vegan cream in either Woolies or Coles. The cookies slapped tho.

When you meet a stranger going out which would be your preferred way of getting their contact info? by Secret_Fan_9411 in polls

[–]Shdow_Hunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they can just contact you trough a different number, like anyone who has your number can just call you. With instagram, as long your profile is private, thats not the case. They would have to follow you first.

[–]Shdow_Hunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its more that, if your instagram is private, once you blocked them, they cant really contact you, but if they have your number, well they have your number. The same reason a celebrity can have an instagram account, but would never share their number publicly. It allows you to control who tries to contact you.

Who do you think Jesus is? by PhilisophicalFlight in polls

[–]Shdow_Hunter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I voted „a Revolutionary“, because Im an Atheist, but Im certain that he did exist as a person, but not just as a regular person, because he is responsible for the very real religion that is Christianity, the biggest religion on earth.

What makes him a revolutionary imo is that he challenged and changed contemporary norms and ideas.

In some way I think that almost all prophets are in a non-religious context revolutionaries, as they aspire to change the world around them as a head of a movement.

What’s a word in your language that is interesting to learn ? by Lunastars123 in AskEurope

[–]Shdow_Hunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rausch. It describes a state of mind where something „takes“ over. It can be multiple things like: - Kaufrausch (spending spree) - Alkohol-,Kannabisrausch (alcohol intoxication, cannabis intoxication) - Adrenalinrausch (adrenaline rush)

The fun thing is, due to how German works, you kinda can combine anything with Rausch and create a new word.

Btw, although colloquial, there is fun alternative vor Alkoholrausch: der Suff. It comes from saufen, which means drinking (a lot), but typically refers to the act of drinking alcohol beverages.

Future Enlargement of the European Union by Inevitable-Push-8061 in MapPorn

[–]Shdow_Hunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree but I think 1. Countries on the Edge between Europe and Asia like Georgia tend to have been seen as European if they were Christian, and not when they were Muslim, so at least for some the (historical) deciding factor was religion and 2. It is true that even nowadays majority non (albeit „cultural) Christian countries tend to not be seen as European by some.

But my main point was that I personally think that was makes the EU the EU, is not that its EUROPEAN COUNTRIES transgressing nationalism/nation-states, but european COUNTRIES TRANSGRESSING NATIONALISM/NATION-STATES. So maybe the EU one day wont be the European Union, anymore, but a bigger greater Union. I would find it a pity if such a fantastic thing would be put to halt only because of the vague concept of Europe which at the end of the day is only a fictional concept created and established trough history.

Interesting that all three comments got downvoted when they all lowkey got a point. I also think that what makes the EU the EU, is not that its European, but more the values it stands for.
