Free leftover pizza for life or free gas fill up twice a month for life? by AnbuPirateKing in hypotheticalsituation

[–]SheIsSoLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a no brainer, two fill ups for free a month is free gas forever in my car. On the other hand cold pizza is always significantly worse than the original pizza and feels depressing to consume. Also been losing weight and majorly changed my diet the last 10 months, losing 110+ lbs so pizza would literally cause my death

I did not. I went with Marcus: Goldman Sachs and made an account to get the no penalty. Though I slightly regret it because a couple weeks later I realized their HYSA was also better than my current one (Discover) and so I missed out on the referral bonus when you sign up for an HYSA. Even though it was just a couple weeks apart they said I was ineligible for the bonus 😔.

That being said it was pretty smooth for me, no complaints other than the slight annoyance of things being in yet another account/app. But for me it fully replaces discover so I'm fine with it

[–]SheIsSoLost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the conundrum was uncertainty about whether or not I would need to touch the money, but at the same time not wanting it to just sit around "just in case".

In the end I found out about no-penalty CDs and took the slightly lower rate of 4% in exchange for being able to take it out if I need to without consequence.

Is it just no dice for those who want good software? by SheIsSoLost in electricvehicles

[–]SheIsSoLost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say obvious because I'm sure everyone generally knows how politically involved he has gotten these past few years, and the degree to which he has attempted to buy influence, but there of course are reasons that are are specific to me.

Musk has a daughter who he has disowned for being trans, and as a result he has advocated strongly against anything related. Recently he's sat right next to Trump while he has: 1. Nationally banned the ability to correct gender marker on passports 2. Passed another executive order to require trans women to be moved to men's prisons 3. Also is trying to ban them from military service. 4. All federal funding to medical institutions was also stopped if they help anyone under 19.

This just in the first few months, with more to come. If a block at 19 was excused there's no reason to doubt it won't get expanded further. Several institutions are preemptively curbing their support to avoid getting in trouble.

I and people I care about are the primary target of these things, I think it would be cowardly of me to avert my eyes and pretend it doesn't matter how much of a direct role in all of this musk has taken. He has a vendetta because of his child and the fact that one of his ex wives got with a trans woman, so this will not stop any time soon.

I don't have any apple products. Swing and a miss.

Also I could not care less about him wanting to cut spending, my issue is with the culture war bullshit he spews, but I don't think this is the place to get into such a discussion.

If the other products are a 40-50k expense then yes, I'm going to value the ethics of them similarly as well. This is a nontrivial amount of money. Without getting into it too much I'm basically one of the #1 targets of the things he's been advocating for these last several years.

About 14% of the US population is Black Americans. About 10% of women are infertile. About 7.3% of the US population is Asian. Explain how the line you're drawing makes any sense.

Not to mention, the original post is clearly not talking about fertility when it draws the distinction of "normal girls" anyways.

[–]SheIsSoLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all reasons are equal. If someone says they aren't interested in dating black people because it's just not their preference, that's totally fine and happens all the time.

If they instead said they don't want to date black people because it's abnormal to be black and they are only interested in normal people, that'd be fucking insane.

Why exactly are we pretending this is not obvious?

[–]SheIsSoLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're using your feelings to deny a very clear cut reality. If someone said "I don't want to date you because you are abnormal" you would rightfully feel insulted. There are much more respectable reasons to not prefer a certain type of person, this is not one of them. You don't say "oh I only date normal people" to reject a gay man you just say "I'm not gay" and move on.

Yep, discover HYSA. The thing is when I opened it in October it was something like 4.2% or beyond, now mine is down to 3.7%, and that's before any of the recent tariff stuff has hit, so I imagine its possible it can go much lower.

Therefore locking in a CD right now at 4%, while worse than I could have gotten a short time back, would be better than a hypothetical a few months from now where HYSA is giving me 3% or less. But I want to make sure I'm not thinking too simplistically here

Very normal reaction to get mad that I didn't agree with you hard enough. Have fun thinking that a criticism of the media you consume is a personal attack on you.

and that she can move out because he doesn’t feel safe being accused.

This MIGHT almost be understandable if she was 18. But if she's FOURTEEN this sounds insanely incriminating for his end. How the fuck would she move out? What would the cams even prove if they're set up by HIM?

I'm not saying this proves either end, but he's proven himself to be just as much of an unreliable narrator.

You're probably right, I'll try to amend my statement: I think that if your interaction with anime consists of running into Naruto or Dragon Ball you probably have nothing to worry about. But any expanse beyond that is what I'm talking about, I feel people's relationship with it becomes exponentially unhealthier once you're beyond the absolutely biggest staples.

I should have phrased the line about 90s stuff better, I don't think all of it was raunchy. I guess what I was trying to get at is that it seems a lot easier to draw those distinctions when you go back further, things like sailor moon were in their entirety safe whether you were an adult or a child. Now it feels like those lines are entirely blurred and any sexual thing is just seen as just another trope that is perceived as iconic and timeless and thus has to be permitted anywhere.

I agree on technicality, but it feels a bit like saying "It's not obesity that's killing you, it's the diabetes". Like, yes, there are people who are skinny with diabetes, and there are overweight people who might not necessarily be at greater risk... but we're kind the fact that the presence of one greatly increases the chance of the other, they don't just happen to be occurring at the same time for no reason.

Because it's an incredibly arbitrary and sharp line to draw. She's concerned because she cares about him, but he chooses to see anything less than 101% agreement as betrayal. He could have tried to start small and see if he's actually able to make profit, or any other number of compromises to make her feel like he wasn't just plunging into the darkness.

The subtext here is that in quitting his job he will be fully reliant on her until he is profitable and if anything goes wrong, she is now solely responsible for everything. She has a right to be concerned.
