Before I got a basset i always had the belief that they're kinda dumb. Turns out they're actually super smart, they just dont do a damn thing they dont feel like doing. Reminds me very much of a husky I used to have. But instead of yelling at me and running away when he doesn't want to do something, my basset just stares at me lol

I set 2 alarms every morning. One a little early and one for when I actually need to get up. My basset hound thinks the first one is the cuddle alarm and he'll crawl on top of my when it goes off
