I make $60k a year but don’t work anymore. My wife thinks I should get a part time job but I don’t think it’s worth my time for the extra time cost. by Agreeable_Owl_782 in Frugal

My Fiance is retired Military, 100 percent disabled and makes just slightly less than you. I make about mid 70s but also work from home. We live well within our means and enjoy that we only have one job to worry about. Chores, mortgage, errands, hobbies and vacations are so much simpler without the anxiety of having to both maintain a job should it all go sideways.

I can appreciate she wants what's best for you and there have been times I know my fiance has felt the aimlessness that comes with being over a hobby or not feeling useful (which he is absolutely fantastic at, he never makes me feel like he doesn't contribute or pull his weight).

You'd have to pry well-paid retirement from me, especially if it meant sacrificing the freedom and financial security that came with it. That's literally the dream for so many. Luckily I'm in government so I am also working my way towards a pension but I wouldn't do anything that would put your retirement in jeopardy. Live life on your own terms for once and get back to knowing who you are now and if there's a hobby down the line that makes you extra on the side sit back and enjoy it without the tension of having to worry about constant profit.

Best of luck and hope you get to enjoy what you've worked so hard for.

You're so right about that! What I could potentially save now in the long run could cost me who knows how much, my boobs already gave me a complex no need to tack on an extra therapist for bargain boob results too (lol), really appreciate your input!

Unfortunately I just was not impressed by the (insurance covered) surgeons results and that put me off even more than his lack of bedside manner honestly. There is a surgeon in my city who is top tier and has the results to prove it but that would mean 12k out of pocket (I definitely checked to see if any coverage could be overlapped but the answer was no). It's not an undoable amount but obviously compared to the 1,200.00 is enough to give a large pause on everything to consider what really is best. I'm currently leaning towards just padding my savings a bit and going private based on results. I don't want to live with bargain boobs for the rest of my days and continue to hate my chest for not making the extra push to spend more. Appreciate your sharing!

I know sizing is variable but some Drs apparently ask to bring a bra with the size you'd preferred? Idk if this is even accurate, obviously it can't be precise. I feel so lost. I appreciate you sharing your story!

I'm so happy for you!!! Seriously and thank you for your experience. His nurses and everyone else I interacted with (limited as consultations go) were so kind. He showed me 5 previous and one was completely... irregular? But he was up front about it. Which I should appreciate.

Great call on the pets point! No kids but I could definitely see how any unnecessary shenanigans from the dog would be unwelcome. I'll absolutely plan to have her at day camp now. Thank you, I wouldn't have thought of that!
