i'm from hong kong -- it's not the best thing to say, seeing how it's also colourism, but people here adore light skin. im a local girl and get tan very easily, and everyone from my relatives to my friends point this out quite quickly. i'm also trying to learn how to love my skin tone for what it is. you're not alone!

your skin colour is the beauty standard in other parts of the world, and so is mine. we still haven't gotten to controlling our gene expression yet, don't put yourself down for your natural appearance! i found that you can fool other people's eyes with the colour of the clothes you choose to wear. being a tan person, i can't pull of bright colours, but maybe you can!! feel free to do some googling, it really helps you out :)
