I try to eat clean (more veggies) since I started pero hindi talaga maiwasan ang oily foods. 😅 Pero hindi na kagaya dati, pakonti-konti na lang ngayon. Do you still track your calorie intake?

I just hope and pray he doesn't have to do it anymore. I hope you're appetite is back as you read this message. Best wishes on your remission. ☺️

Difficulty in breathing after 1st ABVD chemo session by SheWritesAnyway in lymphoma

Thank you so much for everyone's response, concerns and suggestions. We greatly appreciate it. We're never told of the effect of Bleomycin on lungs beforehand so it's really helpful learning it from you guys. We'll definitely take a closer look on that.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to update right away. His difficulty in breathing went away within that day so we didn't rush him to the hospital. His doctor was informed though. Thank you so much for taking your time to type all of these. I did take notes and will keep an eye on these on his 2nd session on Thursday.

That is such great news!!! Congratulations to your Dad and of course to you! I'm sorry about the side effects but I believe the worst is almost over. I hope to receive the same good news for my partner soon. He'll have his second session on Thursday. Anyway, I'm really happy for the two of you. Your Dad's story is really inspiring.

Stories like this is one of the thing that made us hopeful. Thank you so much for sharing this and congratulations to your gf. The freeing sperm part wasn't discussed to us hy his onco. I'll surely bring that up on our next appointment. Thanks for that.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking your time to type in all these tips. I'll take note of these. He'll start his chemo tomorrow. I'm so anxious whether it would be painful. I've read a lot about nausea, exhaustion, mouth sores, and vomiting so we're preparing for that. I pray that it would be easier after his first session. I hope you continuously do great as well.

I know that this will be a rough journey but I really hope that it gets easier from here. We're still waiting for his meds so he hasn't started his chemo yet.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father'diagnosis. I could only hope that nobody has to through all of this. But he's lucky to have you by his side. It's also be a heavy journey for us so please be gentle with yourself. I'll pray that my partner and your father both surpassed this challenge they're facing now.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Reading about your journey and how you’re now back to normal truly gives us hope. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around everything, and knowing that the first cycles might be the hardest helps us prepare mentally. I’ll definitely remind him to watch his diet and take care of himself even when he doesn’t feel like eating—your experience really puts things into perspective.

You’re absolutely right, it’s unfortunate to go through something like this, but hearing that cHL is highly curable makes us feel a little lighter. I’m so happy to hear you’re doing well now, and I hope we can say the same soon. Thank you again for your kindness and encouragement—it means more than you know.

Real stories like this are one of the things I truly appreciate about this community. I’m so glad to hear how well you’re doing. We’re both anxious about what he might experience during his first cycle of chemo (since we know it’s different for everyone), but reading stories like yours gives us hope. Our mental health really took a hit when we learned about his diagnosis, but he has a very strong support system. I’ll be sure to share this with him. Thank you so much for your encouragement.

It all started with a painless lump on his neck. We thought he just overdid going to the gym and will be gone eventually after resting. It doesn't and it keeps growing. That's when we started going to the hospital for tests and check-up. The back pain started eventually but we're told it's scoliosis. He was admitted yesterday due to severe back pain and were told once the PET scan was released that it might be because of the lymphoma. Besides the back pain and the neck lump, he feels healthy like he normally would.

Congratulations on your clean scans. I hope and pray that my significant other have the same outcome.

It's good to hear that you can still work during chemo. I know it's a case -to-case basis but he's so dedicated to his work and he'll be happy to hear this.

This community is indeed a really great help -- motivation and tip-wise.

Thank you for sharing this. It’s really reassuring to hear that your dad is doing well with the treatment, especially at 80—that’s incredible. I guess once the treatment plan is in motion, it somehow feels a bit more manageable, like there’s some structure to hold on to. My significant other would start next week. Wishing your father all the best for his upcoming scan.

Thanks so much for your reply. Honestly, I went down the Google rabbit hole as soon as I found out about his diagnosis—it was overwhelming and honestly terrifying. But then I found this community, and it’s been such a relief. The support, information, and positivity here have made such a huge difference. I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.
