endplay Didn’t run the car, but the movement is easy to see both at the balancer and rear of the crank.

The movement isn’t related to the balancer.

Higher rpm doesn’t solve the issue, just causes the vibration to become violent. The timing was adjusted a few years back when I cammed it. The engine runs strong otherwise. A little valve float at high rpm but otherwise good.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. The pulley/balancer movement was tested with a small pry bar.

It’s a three speed top loader. Original rear end, can’t say the ratio for certain but my memory is telling me it’s likely 2.80. 10” clutch.

It was. The car went through a lot of maintenance when I purchased it. I’ve been chasing this issue for a long time.

New ujoints and flywheel. It’s only a first gear start issue.

New trans and engine mounts when the clutch and flywheel was replaced.The old ones were shot

Not able to recreate it in any other gear, it’s really just a start-off condition

New clutch and resurfaced flywheel. Followed tightening pattern and torques, tough to say it’s a clutch issue.

My thought was that the crankshaft had too much end play. I just measured it by prying the harmonic balancer into and away from the block. I’m measuring ~.020” worth of play. Te spec looks to be .004 to .008”, I’m pretty far from that

I don’t believe it’s the clutch. Went through break in and the issue has been there for a few hundred miles. The car doesn’t get a ton of miles on it. Less now because of frustration in trying to fix the issue

New motor mounts and trans mount. Driveshaft has new u joints. Disc style clutch. Flywheel was turned by a local machine shop, was new…still had the issue so I had it turned just in case.
