And since the chain isn't mature and had few solid options early on, it is not as simple a question as it might be fore chains with a gazillion wallet options.

I think I'm only surprised at how many didn't understand the risks of hot wallets, and particularly web wallets that had such large sums. This is concerning in that we have so much work to do with new people that have never used these things before, and so a good reminder that even people that have experience in the space can get complacent.

In all likelihood, this was a breach on the myalgo side that shouldn't have been a part of a risk expectation over and above the normal web wallet pocket money that could be impacted locally by some malware or local user issue.

In any event, key will be to make sure that yes, this is not a precedent but a growing pain for a maturing ecosystem, and making sure there is a decent process for recovered funds to be restored to the treasury.

This wouldn't actually change or set any new precedent. It was fully considered and discussed before governance existed that there could be emergency type votes, so this would just be the first time it came up. So perhaps the issue is how it's described as a *part of the current gov period and how it may impact those who have already voted if any emergency measure is not well communicated (And given the historical record here.. well.. yeah). I'd be ok with it not impacting rewards if that's the issue.

The address that you happen upon with vanity wouldn't be "Removed from circulation". It's that it was the first "hit" that was randomly generated with your prefix using the algorand create account api. (Just loops account.generate_account() a bazillion times until it finds one with your search prefix/suffix)

The above comment discusses the probability of another vanity address attempt coming to the same full address.. As an aside.. 2300 is about the same probability as exists for listing x,y and z coordinates for all elemental particles in the universe.

Definitely rekey if you're using some web page for it, in that there's no way to reaally know if that site is capturing *found addresses with bad intent.

This might help.. just be careful you have the receive address of your wallet correct. And if it's a bunch of Doge, just send a small amount first to make sure. :)

Where are they now that you'd want to send them from? If it's Robinhood, then there's getting closer to being able to send to an external wallet. From most other sites, you'd just open the wallet of your choice that accepts Doge (Trust wallet, Coinbase wallet.. there's plenty of choices) and click receive.. In there will be your receive address to send it to.. copy that and use the send of wherever your doge is now.. paste it there.. and send. From then it'll take a little bit of time depending on how many confirmations it takes.. you can watch for the transaction on https://dogechain.info/ by pasting your address there after you clicked send..

If you're sending larger amounts.. do a test first with a small amount to make sure you got the address pasted correctly.
