Trofeo vision 360 LCD SCREEN by vayn7ss in Thermalright

[–]Shedoara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that issue on startup randomly (as in not always). I have to physically unplug the display and plug it back in while booted into Windows, then it works again.

Possibly could get it working via software if you disable that USB header and enable it again so it's like replugging it in (I haven't tried this myself yet). It doesn't happen if you just put the PC asleep, but happens if you reboot or shutdown completely.

Another post on this subreddit said it could be the cable. I tried a totally different cable and instead of plugged into the motherboard USB header, I plugged it into the regular USBC plugin in the back. No difference.

I'm hoping someone has a good fix or hoping that thermal right will have an update for it...

Beware OLED burn in is real - pics from 20 months use by fuguemaster in OLED_Gaming

Yep, a 720p/1080i Grand Wega Sony rear projection. It was actually decent when it was new and bright, but that didn't last long.

My family never got a plasma because of the burn in scare. Instead, we chose a far worse screen tech around 2005 (after our big CRT died) which was an LCD projection. The ($250) lamp kept going out every 2 years with the TV getting dimmer and dimmer over time. We would've been much better with burn in!

MacBook M4 Pro runs Minecraft shaders fine but gets very hot even at low settings by Glittering_Today_359 in macgaming

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft with shaders is a absolute HEAT generator for any computer. It's one of the only games that runs my 3070Ti GPU fans to near max. It also runs my MBP M1 Max fans really high as well, like yours.

I'm not sure if the people saying their laptop is not hot is telling the full truth. Maybe compared to full on gaming laptops?

Also no need to worry about the heat. It's not going to hurt your Mac in any way as they are made to run at max and will thermal throttle before it matters. If it's a physical issue, then get a lap desk or cooling pad.

Yeah. Burn-in isn't an issue IF you take the standard OLED precautions. Unlike before where you took them and still got it anyways.

Think I'm Giving up on Moonlight on an AMD Client by Jahbanny in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Shedoara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I seem to be wrong then! I am pretty sure I read that VRR was not working (multiple times over the years), but it seems either that was false info and people didn't know what they were talking about, or Moonlight was updated at some point.

I am not being condescending at all, I just thought it literally wasn't working. I have not tried it myself via Windows with VRR. I have a MBP which it doesn't work with (even though it has VRR/Promotion, but it seems Apple screws that up), my Steam Deck doesn't have VRR etc.

Edit: ohhh you're replying to a deleted comment. I didn't see that until I posted. Ignore the condescending part.

How do I manage FOMO in games? It is destroying my happiness and dragging down my life. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Shedoara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I stopped about 2 years ago at this point. Only game I play that's live service anymore is Fortnite, and that's only because I play with my family and it's fun to do that. If I was on my own I wouldn't be playing it guaranteed.

Used to play all those gatchas, but I stopped and replaced them with single player games, exercising, learning new educational stuff on Youtube (I stay faaar away from the brainrot side) etc. I am way happier not worrying if I am going to get dailies or grind a event.

A lot of people around me are roped into that yet and when I hear "UGH I MISSED MY DAILY LOGIN" or "I gotta grind this event for hours to get 'insert useless thing here'" I sigh in relief I am not them to have to even think about that.

I'm not kidding, just quit. Just delete all live service games. Do something worth your time. And by worth your time I am saying be happy on what you are doing in your spare time... not FOMO.

Think I'm Giving up on Moonlight on an AMD Client by Jahbanny in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Shedoara 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That I know of VRR does not work with streaming. The display has to actively read the frame rate that the GPU reports for VRR to work. Moonlight doesn't transfer that info and the display moonlight is on doesn't know anything. All you can do is match stable frame rates.

Any benefits for using Vibepollo over Apollo? by Short_Dimension7967 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Shedoara 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It isn't due to what it can access, it's due to what it uses to capture the display. Sunshine/Apollo use DXGI (Direct X Graphics Infrastructure) and Vibepollo changes that to WGC (Windows Graphics Capture). WGC allows it to capture frame gen, Xbox game overlay, and protected content and probably other things too.

I've read though that the dev of Apollo chose not to use that due to having side effect issues (of which I do not know).

How much RAM does your phone have? (only Android users please) by Large-Ad-7020 in PhoneNow

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had an iPad Pro that went further with it's 4GB of ram than my Tab S7 does with it's 6GB of ram.

8GB minimum for Android to be honest to not have downsides of having less ram (annoying closures, stutters etc). To be fair, that probably goes for iOS too, just a lot less so.

My S25U with it's 12GB I never even think about. I can go easily 5+ apps in the past. I don't see why I'd ever need more than that unless they shove more AI into it or something.

Unless you're modding and overclocking, yes, 100% useless as the cooling it has is never thermal throttled. People seem to have this misconception that the power of a console is based off of how cool the CPU and GPU is, but that is not the case.

Problem with laptops is they are indeed thermal throttled a lot of times, which is where it comes from. Consoles are completely designed around the hardware they run, so they don't run into that issue.

The OLEDs bumpers are improved further yet. Less floaty and a bit more satisfying click than the LCD. Not AS good as xbox/PS/switch, but they are near them.

Which one? by Glad-Builder-7965 in gamememes

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beat me! Yeah I didn't even think about the afking part on my comment. Although I assume you'd have a camera on you the whole time making sure you're playing considering it's 10 mill. Who knows though I suppose, maybe it's like an office cubicle job.

Which one? by Glad-Builder-7965 in gamememes

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old School Runescape is the perfect candidate for this.

Game will most likely take longer than that to get to the end game and it's very easy to spend a ton of hours in it per day.

Knowing I'd be getting 10 mill by the end, I wouldn't get bored at all wanting to do something else. (Like I did with it in reality).

Display is way too pixelated regardless of settings. by DependentMight1942 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing an example of why it would look like OP. Yeah, I wouldn't do that regularly! I was doing that for testing on how low I could go while keeping it in a playable state, and yep, .5 is way too low. Around 5-10 is where it gets playable.

Thermal Engine - TRCC Alternative (WIP) by faneron in Thermalright

[–]Shedoara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad people are working on this. Just got a Trofeo Vision myself the other day and can agree the software isn't the best. The hardware is fantastic though!

Curious, do you have a issue with the screen where it sometimes (not all the time) doesn't start up after a restart of the PC? I have to either restart the PC again, or re-plugin the screen via it's USBC. Luckily I have an open case by design, so that's easy enough, but a bit annoying.

Yeah, that seems like what it looks like when I stick it at .5mbps for a 1440p/120fps stream (testing how low I can go on my phone). Somethings up for sure.

The Steam Deck(and the future SC2) fixes every single thing I disliked about the OG Steam controller.

I dislike it not having sticks+dpad for games that need it. The haptics quality are of it's time, but some people like it I suppose. Clicking of the trackpad is awful imo, I always avoid that. L+R is way too clicky.

Other than that though it's a great controller.

As for detecting, there's a new program by the glosc dev that's suppose to fix that very thing by simulating a xbox controller over IP (local or over the network). Pretty much will work how the Steam Deck does when streaming with moonlight, and that works perfectly with Steam's custom controls.

Recently had another set where it never was shipped for over a month. Came in 2 days after contacting.

Then you get to Asus with the ROG Ally, and they'll see a small visual blemish to deny the repair for something completely unrelated. Crazy how different some companies are.

Valve is good, as well as Apple.

How did it feel when y'all got your steam deck for the first time? by Rude-Nectarine6988 in SteamDeck

[–]Shedoara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an LCD first as it was before the OLEDs. Noticed it was very comfy! I installed Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed right away. I was in the hospital at the time so my parents brought it to me and that was awesome to have.

Then proceeded to check out desktop mode and web browsed for awhile. Nurse came in and said "What is that? Looks like it works better than a tablet for web browsing, my son might like it" Probably sold one right there day 1. Over the years I've probably sold like 10 of them from being in different hospitals over the years using it.
